I'm Matt Lubchansky and I'm a cartoonist, illustrator, and writer living in Queens, NY.
You might know me from my webcomic, Please Listen to Me. My work has also appeared on The Nib, The Toast, The Hairpin, Eater, VICE, and GoComics. I was a contributing editor of the Eisner-nominated (and kickstarter'd!) collection Eat More Comics: The Best of the Nib. I am also the co-author of the recently-released book DAD MAGAZINE.
I've been writing and drawing PLTM weekly since 2010! PLTM is a big goofy comic about a ton of things, but the central theme is the extreme bizarreness of being alive.
After 300+ strips, I'm ready to make a big collection! I waited a while to get this together, but it's finally time. I've got a big paperback 6x9 300-pager ready go along with some of my comics that originally ran on The Nib, as well as my minicomics Nature Show and Hair.
There's some good stuff in there like your name in the book, or an avatar or commission from me, OR you could even BE in a comic! I might make you a pizza, who knows! One thing I DO know is I'm making a special lapel pin that only Kickstarter backers can get, that'll come with all the levels at $27 and above:
Here's a guide to what you can get:
Big thanks to Mark Popham for the video editing and The So So Glos for use of their song "Lost Weekend."
Risks and challenges
I'll be doing my fulfillment through the lovely folks at Make That Thing!, a production agency for crowdfunded projects (makethatthing.com). They're very experienced at getting rewards and such out in a timely fashion and their customer service is tops! That way, I'm not gonna die under a big pile of books and you will actually GET your book! Win-win.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
