Who we are
We are a dynamic group of five women and one guy — all hardworking Wisconsin artist/teachers who have built a friendship with artists in Japan over the past 15 years.
L to R: Katherine Steichen Rosing, Pat FIlzen, Rita Yanny, Tori Tasch, Bonnie de Arteaga and Lee Mothes.
Our long artful history together leaps forward with an exciting new collaborative exhibit, “Floating on Waves” to be held at the Artist’s Showcase at Promega BioTechnology Center, Madison, WI June 14 to September 13, 2016.
Promega has sponsored the artist's showcase since 1996 as part of the company's commitment to creativity and innovation in the arts, cultures and sciences.
Past shows by these Japanese and Wisconsin artists include enormous pastel drawings celebrating the earth, an installation of felted fiber globes mystically suspended from the ceiling, image transfer artists books depicting urban destruction, twenty foot high paintings created to the music of accordion players before a live audience in Tokyo.
If these past works are any precedent, the 2016 “Floating on Waves” exhibition at Promega will be an intriguing show.
As a Backer . . .
As a backer, you will help us produce a complete catalog and video documentation of the exchange including videos of the artists at work in their studio and help provide hospitality to our visitors who will stay in our homes for the first week of the show. More importantly, you will be nurturing young unfolding friendships between emerging artists from Japan and Wisconsin who will be invited to participate in the exchange with their established mentors. You will be making an investment in the future of the visual arts in Wisconsin and Japan.
