We’re also excited to be launching Pro - starting with Community and a new suite of Getting Started Plans for barbell training, running, physique, and how to do a pull-up.

We have 27 days left of this campaign and while many project creators would call this the finish line - we’re not slowing down. We’re setting a stretch goal of $50k.

A stretch goal is a funding target set by the project creator beyond the original Kickstarter goal to provide enhancements to the project that will be “unlocked” if the project hits certain milestones.

Most training plans are cookie-cutter templates that aren't customized to your needs and that don’t build an effective foundation of strength that allows you to achieve your goal physique.

Our plans start off by building a foundation of strength with a standard linear progression. These plans are customized for the female body and competition category. Unlike most plans that you’ll find on the internet, we show you how to actually train like stage ready competitors with a typically heavier emphasis on lower body and sophisticated HIIT cardio that’s effective and challenging. We guide you through a muscle building phase, a cutting phase, a peaking phase, and a maintenance phase. After your strength cycle, we help you determine which variables to manipulate - sets, reps, load, reps, and training frequency - to break past plateaus and to continue progressing.

DETAILED 4-12 WEEK PHASES WITH WARM UP, WORKOUT, COOLDOWN We care about the details. And we care about consistency over long periods of time. So we show you, in detail, exactly how to train for 4-12 weeks complete with warm-up, workout, and cool-down. With proper warm-up and cool-down, you take care of your body for the long run.

BUILT-IN TIMERS Easy to use timers for rest sets, work sets, and high intensity interval training. No more switching to the Timer app in between sets!

EXERCISE DESCRIPTION WITH PROGRESSION & REGRESSION Detailed descriptions with guidelines to progression and regression. NUTRITION, SLEEP, PERIOD DATA SYNC The ultimate fitness app needs to know about how you’re eating, sleeping, exercising, and recovering so that it can adjust your training to optimize performance. That’s why we are syncing with HealthKit and Google Fit. By understanding how you live your life, whether you got enough sleep, or ate enough food, we can adjust how much you need to lift that day. If we see that you haven’t slept much, your caloric intake is low, and you’re on your period, we lighten up your percentages and then adjust them back up to your working weight after your numbers improve.

HOW IS SPITFIRE DIFFERENT THAN OTHER FITNESS APPS?

There are three different types of movement. First, you have "physical activity" which is any kind of movement. Second, you have "exercise" which is movement for the sake of movement, usually to work up a sweat or increase your heart rate. Third, you have "training" which is structured, intentional activity designed to achieve a specific goal.

Most fitness apps promote "physical activity" or "exercise".

MADE BY TWO ENGINEERS WHO ARE COMPETITIVE ATHLETES

Hello world. We're Erin and Nidhi, the founders and engineers of Spitfire Athlete. Spitfire is 100% designed and engineered by us, a product that is truly for women by women. We’re both full stack engineers who are also competitive athletes.

The story of Spitfire goes back to 2012, when Erin began to teach herself how to code to build an early version of Spitfire Athlete. Nidhi was at MIT, reading The Beauty Myth for the first time and wondering why products for women too often focus on what you look like rather than what you can do. They wouldn't meet for another year, until at a chance party in San Francisco, they connected over their mutual love of athletics and tech. Together, they founded Spitfire Athlete and launched the first public version of the app to the AppStore in April 2014.

Erin graduated from Stanford, is a full stack engineer, and competes at the national level in the sport of olympic weightlifting. Prior to weightlifting she ran several marathons and won a first to 10,000 push-ups competition.

Nidhi graduated from MIT with a B.S. in Computer Science and competed on the NCAA D1 Women's Lightweight Rowing team at MIT. She is also a full stack engineer, currently a Masters rower and casual weightlifter.

We bring our athletic backgrounds to this app by working with certified trainers and strength and conditioning coaches to bring structured training to you and customized to your unique needs as a female athlete.

Together, we are an unstoppable force of nature. We have been working on Spitfire full time for the past year, launching it as a free app with free training plans and learning as much as we can from our spitfire community. It's time to grow to Android and provide a more advanced series of training plans and features - the very ones that you have been asking for.

"Spitfire has kind of saved my life. I was diagnosed with anorexia 2 years ago, and since I have weight restored... But have also been trying to control my weight through exercise and eating.

I downloaded the spitfire app knowing that it would make me stronger. That's what I wanted to do, turn my mind into wanting to be strong and fit, not skinny. And strong and fit it did. After 4 weeks following The Warrior, I had gained one kilo. I initially freaked out about the weight gain... But I realised it was probably all muscle, and I was so proud. I was changing myself to be strong. Not skinny and weak and fight all my problems by starving myself and over exercising. I was using exercise as a stress reliever, and to build my body healthy again. I'm moving on to complete 12 weeks of The Fearless. I no longer fear gaining weight. FEATURED SPITFIRES

NIKI SIMS has been coaching since 2009. She is a certified Starting Strength Coach and a Senior Strength Coach at SF Iron. She is competitive Powerlifter with competition bests of a 264lb Squat, 176lb Bench Press and a 380lb Deadlift in the 165 weight-class, Raw division. She has also done weighted chins ups with 60lbs for 3 sets of 3. Her current goals are to Squat 315lbs, Bench Press 225lbs, Deadlift 440lbs, perform a chin-up with an additional 100lbs and to obtain a sponsorship from Reduced-Fat Oreos.

MARINDA THOMAS

EMILY HU is an elite powerlifter holding the all time world record for the bench press in the 114 lbs and the 123lbs weight classes. By day, she is a biomedical researcher in the medical device industry.

NATASHA BARNES is a former rock climbing National Champion, a Teva Games gold medalist and has earned a spot on the US World Cup Bouldering and Sport Climbing Team multiple years. She also competes in Olympic weightlifting and powerlifting.

DANIELLE O'DEA is a professional actor and fitness model based in the Bay Area. After graduating with a BFA in Theatre and Stage Combat from New York University and moving to San Francisco, she decided to prioritize her health for personal and professional reasons and lost over 40 lbs. Along the way she discovered powerlifting and never looked back! She's been training for 1.5 years now and has competed in the APA and USAPL, in the 123.5 & 114.5 weight classes respectively. Her best meet total is 230 kg.

Risks and challenges

Software development is inherently complex and estimating the time for a project is one the most challenging aspects. Common problems that can delay the completion of a software project are:

Unanticipated infrastructure or tool limits:

We will work with the service providers to change or upgrade our service package if necessary. Since we are not yet close to the max limits for any of our service providers, this is unlikely to happen.

If all else fails, we will re architect the software to work around any limits we cannot change.

Infrastructure or third party API bugs that prevent us from launching a feature:

We will file the bug report, work with the service provider to provide any required information about the bug, get attention for it, monitor progress, and keep our backers informed. We have relationships within each provider so we can get attention on any such bugs if necessary.

AppStore rejection:

We will work with the Apple representative to fix any issues and resubmit the build. Usually this results in a delay of 1-2 weeks.
