About this project
We gave Canadian Chef, Soroush, a MasterPan and filmed him using the pan. He shares an excellent recipe for a classic French Coq at Vin, and also shows us a few neat tricks with the pan (over-the-wall).

Raj Nagrani, inventor of the MasterPan, has 40 years of experience cooking and washing pans with 30 of those years spent working in product marketing and development. He has spent the last 5 years at Dreambiz Ltd., a product sourcing firm specializing in design and manufacturing products across all major consumer categories. Chris Matsakis, co-creator of the MasterPan and founder of DealGenius.com, has worked together with Raj on many projects over the years while discovering they had nearly identical experiences and frustrations with using and cleaning many pans just for one meal. Two years ago they both shared the same question, "Why isn't there just one pan that can cook an entire breakfast, lunch or dinner?" and then the same vision "to create the most versatile pan out there that would be able to do this!". Now there is - here is the original drawing they made together showing you what a bunch of crayons and a piece of paper can lead to.
Early Sketch of the MasterPan Early Sketch of the MasterPan
It has taken us nearly two years to get the MasterPan ready for production. After countless prototypes, design enhancements, functionality improvements, and testing, we finally met our objectives of a high quality pan that works really well. We're in the final stages and we have sourced a quality manufacturer who is standing by with final mold specifications. We need your help to back this project to introduce the MasterPan to the world. As a thank you for you support, we are offering the following rewards on the right.
10/14 Kickstarter launch
11/14 If we reach our Kickstarter goal, the MasterPan tool is made, and production starts immediately following!
12/15/14 - 12/31/14 1st shipment of MasterPans, that should be in time for the holidays!
Risks and challenges
Both Raj and Chris have completely different backgrounds and expertise; however as a team, reduce many of the risks and challenges associated with bringing a new product to market.
Raj Nagrani, in his 30 years of experience has nearly seen it all when it comes to manufacturing complications and will be overseeing each step in the manufacturing process as well as quality control. One challenge Raj experienced during development was the screw in the handle and making sure it would hold up over time. The screw was re-engineered in the process for a secure lasting fit. Another challenge along the way was trying to make a universal bottom which also included induction stoves. The current bottom plate is perfect for all stove types except induction and if we raise enough funds during this kickstarter we plan to make an induction version.
Chris Matsakis and his experienced team at DealGenius.com have over ten years of e-commerce experience and together shipped over 1 million packages. Our scheduled plan does involve shipping rewards during the busiest shipping time of the year which can result in some normal holiday delays by major carriers such as FedEx and USPS. U.S. customs, and severe weather could also delay shipments generally between two days and two weeks.
