You really have the power to make INVISIBLE RIVER = reality this June!
INVISIBLE RIVER is a free, public aerial dance and music concert that takes place on and around the Strawberry Mansion Bridge in Fairmount Park this June! We are celebrating the Schuylkill River, the ephemeral nature of the summer, and the idea that live performance can bring a city together in a way that no other gathering can.
This is our first ever Kickstarter campaign and we need to raise $12,000 to make this public performance event happen!
The $12,000 will pay the artists, our production staff, purchase insurance and costumes, document the performance, and print our marketing materials.
WOW – I know we can do it, but not without you!
INVISIBLE RIVER is an unprecedented cultural event in Philadelphia’s history that will transform the Schuylkill River and Fairmount Park, animating it with dance, music and visual art for 2 evenings this June!
A chorus of 8 dancing singers will perform the haunting choral compositions of Elliott Harvey of a stick and a stone leading audience members through interactive choreography installations on the Schuylkill River Trail. They arrive at a vacant parking lot transformed into a carnival of color by the artists from SpArc Philadelphia. In the distance, two aerial dancers swing beneath the Strawberry Mansion Bridge, glide past each other and partner in moments of adventure and play, until finally descending into the river and swimming to the nearby audience for the finale. The entire event is a public celebration of the Schuylkill River encouraging audiences to reconsider their relationship to it.
At the end of every performance, Vidich will speak to the audience about her long-term vision to create an annual Schuylkill River performing arts festival that advocates for increased public swimming and boating access to the river. After this, a DJ dance party hosted by Maggy's Rooftop Aerial invites audience members to stay in the park, celebrate the summer and dance with each other. Cosmic Café, the official vendor of Fairmount Park and the infamous Little Baby’s Ice Cream (Sun 6/23 only) will sell food at the event.

Who is Alie & the Brigade?
Alie Vidich is a choreographer, director, and performer creating immersive, site specific performances and viscerally engaging stage works. She loves journeying – through performances, through time, through dreams and through the work she creates for you to watch! She creates performance works that question your own sense of reality as you engage with dance, nature, music, theater, visual spectacles and the other spectators that surround you. This is her 3rd Schuylkill River performance work. In the summers of 2010 and 2011, with her company, she produced CONSTANTS: a performance journey in history along the Schuylkill River which took audience members onto the river for nightly canoe journeys in which they saw scenes from the Schuylkill’s hidden histories come to life through dance, music, theater and kinetic sculpture!
The Brigade is an eclectic mix of actors, dancers, musicians, visual artists and highly intelligent theater technicians who collaborate to make wild and imaginative works that you could never even imagine from reading this webpage!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!
WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AT THE SHOWS IN JUNE :)
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
This is my third site specific project on the Schuylkill River - in the past, I directed, produced and performed in CONSTANTS: a performance journey in history along the Schuylkill River. In the summers of 2010 & 2011, over the course of 30 performances we took 350 people onto the river for nightly canoe journeys. No audience members ever drowned, all the performers were safe, and we managed to sell out all of our shows and in 2011 we got back on the river only two days after Hurricane Irene!
I understand the C word - CHALLENGE and the R word - RISK. But I don't know any other way around them except to work hard, ask for support and continue to love.
In the past, I have done this work without as much support - I know that with your support and love that I can carry out this project and make it come to reality.
I am not doing it alone, I am working with a team of artists, production staff, and a project manager who are assisting making INVISIBLE RIVER a reality with me!
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.
