I spent a lot of time thinking about making ShotgunR out of aluminum, but there are three reasons why I didn't go that route:
1. COST - Aluminum is expensive and I didn't want to send the manufacturing overseas to produce it cost effectively. ShotgunR will be made locally (near me on Long Island) out of glass reinforced plastic (super strong stuff that won't wear out). The location of the manufacturer also keeps shipping costs low. This allows me to keep the price affordable while delivering premium quality.
2. LIMITED COLORS - Anodized aluminum limits the number of color variations I can do, while plastic is nearly limitless for the combinations. I can change the base material color, as well as the logo color. Plastic also allows for complete customization to show your business logo, or favorite sports team or school.
3. BOTTLED BEER - THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON I DIDN'T USE ALUMINUM: Bottle caps are made of steel (which means they are very hard), and over time they will scratch away the aluminum structure to the point it no longer functions. I separated the two elements (shotgunning cans and opening bottles) and created a stainless steel bottle opener that won't wear out. ShotgunR will rally with the best of 'em for any party!
