Introducing new colors & new rewards! >
Original Goal: $4,000
Help launch our first collection! (FUNDED!)
Stretch Goal: $6,750
An industrial sewing machine!
We reached our original funding goal in less than 48 hours, thanks to our Kickstarters! We're so excited that our first collection will be going into production in a few weeks! So, we've added a stretch goal. If we can get to $6,750, we'll be able to buy our very own industrial sewing machine. This will help us develop and design new products and decrease our dependency on 3rd parties.
AS A REWARD FOR HELPING US REACH OUR STRETCH GOAL: we will make a muslin "care bag" for everyone who pledged at the $80 level or above, to help keep your clutch or mini-clutch free from dust and dirt when you're not using it!
As a designer and as a shopper, I value minimalism, sophistication, drawing from nature, and timelessness over trendiness. These values are reflected in the look and construction of these bags. Having worked in the fashion industry I've witnessed first-hand the amount of waste that the industry produces. I want to make beautiful, elegant everyday pieces while being environmentally responsible at the same time.
I'm turning to Kickstarter to help fund the cost of production for my first collection. It's a limited-edition run of the mini-clutch I designed for myself and my friends, as well as a full-size clutch, and an earbud case. I'm limiting the production because I want to be realistic about the availability of materials, as well as my time. I have a full-time day job and while I hope someday to be in business for myself, for now, this is still something I will be pursuing over nights and weekends.
$4,000 would cover the initial costs of the materials and production; everything from the high-end YKK "Excella" zippers, to the metal stamping of the logo into the leather.
Our Kickstarter backers will have exclusive first dibs on this collection, before it becomes available to anyone else! We are also giving our backers a 5% discount off the retail price.
Our Kickstarter ends just before Thanksgiving. We plan to have all the rewards stitched and shipped in time for the December holidays!
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge that comes from working exclusively with upcycled leather is getting the raw material. I've addressed this by limiting all of the leather bag rewards to only what I already have on hand. In partnership with a local leather workshop, I've have made sure that even if I sell out of every reward, I have the leather needed to complete our project without delays. Of course, in all manufacturing, it is impossible to predict everything that could happen, but my experience in the fashion industry has given me insight into the do's and don't's of production. I'm confident that I can make the estimated delivery times.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
