About this project
NanoMuffs are tiny, removable, self-adhesive fuzzy things that stick over the microphone inlets of the iPhone, iPad, DSLRs, Smartphones, Handicams, Laptops and other hand-held devices to suppress wind noise. If it has a built in Microphone there's a DeadCatDot that will fit. Get your audio message across.
As the DUMBEST Kickstarter project ever fades slowly into the West, DeadCatDot are selling these online. www.deadcatdot.com. Special thanks to all of our supporters and to Kickstarter for giving us a good kick up the a** and getting us to this point!
Yes. Just send us the make and model number of your device and we'll make sure it fits.
You only need it on the camera when you're having trouble with wind noise. It is supplied with a credit card size holder that slips into your pocket or bag.
Yes it will, that microphone, I think, is very close to the screen. So unless you want the NanoMuff slighty touching the screen you'll have to use the smallest Dot we make and make sure the acoustic vent is centered over the microphone exactly. Let me know what kind of device you have and I'll make positive you get one.
I'm really confused about the Mic in the iPhone. When I'm recording a video it's in stereo. Where's the other Mic?
That's a good question. You win a free sample. The Mics in the iPhone are real heavy acoustic science. So follow this link. https://discussions.apple.com/message/15187463#15187463 and this one https://discussions.apple.com/message/13249297#13249297 So we would say you need a combination of DeadCatDots. One Long one on the bottom and a little one on top where the headphones plug in.
You can but it won't work as well as a DeadCatDot. The secret is the rubberized backing limiting the size of the opening through the fur and the adhesive provides an airspace between the filter and the microphone letting the air settle down before reaching the capsule.
No not at all. The adhesive supplied with the DCD is semi-sticky and reusable.
Yes we can. But we have to find the right kind of fake fur in those colors to be effective with wind noise. Not all fake fur is the same texture suitable for this application. We're looking.
