Combining and merging things sounds like an awesome idea :) Sticking with the original plan would be unwise if it results in stress and havoc, would vastly prefer a better plan where the game continues to develop toward further awesome.
Either way I'm putting content intended for the retired books elsewhere, so they're not completely gone at least.
And that's a good point about Black Yearbook! I was avoiding touching it because there are backer rewards in it, but it's also true that it's light on new rules. Even if I don't merge anything, shifting its focus a little to setting content about the Island would be very useful and cheaper in the long run.
I'm still a fan, and I'll still back future projects, but I've got to say that the solution of cancelling the last few stretch goals when they're the ones that helped push things to 14k really stings, especially when it's rules content going before the NPC book. If some of that content can escape into merged books, that'd be great. I know I'm fine with bigger, less art-filled books if that's somehow a workable solution. And despite complaining, I appreciate the transparency and I hope other tabletop KSes do similar in the future.
And while that does suck about Summer Survivor (both because it's terrible when someone has to leave the hobby and because I was hoping it'd give us some information about the non-academy parts of the island) it sounds like that's well beyond your control and I hope your friend has found happiness in whatever their current projects are.
I was really looking forward to Five Deadly Midterms and Fifth World Problems, so a solution where the AO and myth content from those gets merged into Outer Science and OCCULTAR PROJECT is something I'm happy with.
