Ingocraft is a holistic approach to modern design/build, but for kids!
Modern tech meets nuts and bolts, a combination to inspire and educate young people to be makers, inventors, creators, and future 3D printers!
Kit no 1: bars, plates, cubes, nut, bolts, and wheels, all the basics for building greatness!
The Ingocraft App: Our app simulates 3D modeling in 2 modes of play. First, in level mode, learn to orient 3D space while completing 3D design challenges. The ingocraft Kit no 1 allows you to build the first 3 levels of the ingocraft app.
Then, in free play: Build with an unlimited supply of Ingos. This is a great introduction to free-form 3D modeling, but a lot less complicated. When you create a structure, you can save it, share it, and even download and remix projects others have posted.
Ingos are designed to be 3D printed. If you have a 3D printer, you can customize and print your own Ingos. Once we are up and running, we will also have an online gallery of 3D printables that will be compatible with your Kit no 1.
The possibilities for extensions and customizations are limitless! We have been making gears with 3D printed belts made from flexible filaments, compatible hinges and ball joints and propellers. We can't wait to see how people customize and improve the Ingocraft set!
Risks and challenges
We have a very short amount of time to fulfill our early bird's rewards once this kickstarter campaign ends. While we have allowed ourselves enough time to account for distribution, we are still finalizing our plastic molded pieces. We have done a lot already, in fact most of the plastic molding process is completed already, so most of our prototypes are ready for production. We have also chosen to work with local manufacturers, only a few miles from us, so we can stay in constant contact and collaboration (and do the occasional pop-in). While we feel that this definitely helps mitigate some of the risks, there is still the possibility that some part of the manufacturing process could delay Ingocraft Kit no 1. We are working overtime to make sure this doesn't happen, and have a secondary plastic molder, also local, who can help us deliver on time if necessary.
The Ingocraft app is also in its late stages of development for this first release, and things are looking great, but there are potential development risks, and our app still needs to be approved by Apple. For the time being, only iphone and ipad will be compatible with the Ingocraft app, but for future releases, and possibly for non-early birds, we expand to android and possible pc.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
