A brand new EP, with 5 new tracks! Reserve your copy by helping us to fund it, and be rewarded in return!
About the project:
I've been writing recording music as a solo artist for almost 10 years, but for the past 18 months have been playing as a duo with Tom Holder on the double bass. Now that there seems to be some local buzz about what we're doing, Tom and I want to produce a new EP capturing the stripped back feel of our live shows. The 'Body To Ground EP' will feature 4 new tracks and 1 reworked track from a previous album. We'll use exclusively double bass, guitar on 3 tracks, and only piano on 2 others - giving it a really different feel to my existing 2 albums.

We're really excited to have the opportunity to work with 4-time Grammy nominated and Brit Award winning producer, James McMillan, who has worked with the likes of Whitney Houston, Sia, and Beverly Knight to name a few. James specialises in recording female vocals and capturing them at the best they can be.
As I have now left a full time teaching job to play music instead, money is tight. We want to make sure this record is something really special, and funds raised here will cover studio time, printing costs, Kickstarter fees and hiring a professional pianist to play on two of the new tracks.
Your support would mean the world and we'd be so grateful for your any pledge, no matter how big or small. There are some cool rewards available (you can even join us at the studio!) - so have a look and see if anything takes your fancy.
Here's a little video of Tom and I playing 'Money' at Norwich Arts Centre recently. Seems appropriate!!
A bit about the tracklisting:
When I Was Young (Piano) - a brand new song with piano backing and nothing else. A song about family and childhood. This track has only been played live once, at Coolham Live Music Club in June 2016.
Let's Go Out Drinking - inspired by and adapted from the traditional folk song 'Take Me Out Drinking' by Michael Marra, with new lyrics, a new chord progression and a different feel. A song about missing old friends. Hear a preview in our pitch video!
Body To Ground - the title track for the EP, with acoustic guitar in open C tuning and a mix of plucked and bowed double bass. So new, it has never been played live.
Beethoven (Piano Version) - a track originally from 'All That Fire', but with a completely different feel and a brand new ending. Previously with acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, drums. Now with just piano and a slower BMP.
S.R.S. - never previously recorded in a studio. Acoustic guitar and bowed double bass. You can watch a live version on YouTube by clicking here.
When will the Body To Ground EP be ready?
Our studio time is booked provisionally for November 2016. If this project is successful, we expect to have the EP ready by March 2017 at the latest. Any extra funds raised will be channelled into more studio time or graphic design, and if we're not successful in raising our total amount, you won't be charged. Huge thanks in advance folks!

Risks and challenges
We are hopeful that once the funds are in place, things will run smoothly - but of course with every exciting venture comes some challenges. The biggest worry is ensuring my voice is on form on the recording days, as there won't be much flexibility to move the slot. Honey and lemon all week is the plan!
There is also the possibility that Tom could lose a finger before the studio date, doing the gardening work he loves so much... but he's going to be extra careful.
