What if there was more to communicating with horses? Could you truly build a relationship of trust and confidence with your horse using feel, timing, balance, empathy and light hands? This is the story of Steve Halfpenny, the remarkable Australian horseman.
In July of 2017, Steve filmed a six minute short documentary. This little film was an experiment. Could Steve’s philosophy and way with horses be communicated through film?
The answer was YES!
Since it’s release, it has been selected for 11 international film festivals and won 5 awards including Best Documentary and Best Director.
THE NEXT STEP
In January 2018 we began filming a new full-length documentary, following Steve’s connection with horses and how he shares his insights with others.
We already have some great footage shot and ready to go into editing. Work on our official film photography book is also underway. Now we need your help to fund the final processes and bring this film to completion.
By pledging to back this movie, by choosing a Kickstarter perk (see the right of the page), you will help us to bring this movie to life.

Risks and challenges
Steve Halfpenny The Movie will face the same risks as all documentaries, most notably the financial risk. When we started, we knew we would eventually have to reach out to the world for help to complete the film. As a team, we're fully committed to this project. Although there are sometimes scheduling challenges, and could be some in the future, we work so well together that they are always resolved. If we foresee or encounter challenges in the future, we will include details in our updates and get your feedback!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
