My goal is to transform eroded and forgotten physical matter into one-of-a-kind wearable art. Matter reborn.

UPDATE: I've met my minimum funding goal! I'm overwhelmed with gratitude, but I would like to keep the momentum flowing. Further pledges will be put to MUCH needed use. My minimum goal helps me cover a portion of my basic expenses in my business expansion, BUT- further funding will facilitate the purchase of a sturdy work bench, a good torch (to add soldering to my repertoire), and an expanded marketing plan. Thank you in advance- the support means the world to me!
Busted, burnished and weathered things have a special place in my world. These objects have had a rich life before I find them. Usually they have been handled, loved and used to virtual oblivion, or tossed around recklessly by the wind. This gives them a special power. They have seen the world, and, they have a story to tell. They have patina, luster and gravitas!
Like a nervous twitch, I've been bending down and picking up these objects for as long as I can remember. About 10 years ago, I decided that this collection of mystery metal/found objects needed to be put to good use: wearable art. With a background in painting and mixed media art, I decided to teach myself basic metalsmithing techniques. It was a natural progression. Each piece of jewelry that I make is infused with the spirit of the past but designed with a serious love for modernity.
I have developed a small (but mighty!) following over the years, and I'm currently ready to introduce myself to a much wider audience. This Kickstarter project seeks funds to take my design line to a higher level which requires:
1. Professional graphic design
2. Updated web design
3. Professional photography for my spring collection and look book
4. New tools (my current tools have seen much better days)
5. Start up assistance with my new studio space
6. Materials (sterling silver chain, findings, packaging and shipping materials)
7. A professional press kit
8. Shipping Costs (for reward items)
9. Payment Processing Fees (about 10% of the funding goal)
If I am to exceed my minimum funding goal, the money will be very carefully allocated to more studio tools and more in depth marketing.
To say that I am grateful for your backing would be a major understatement! This project could define my future as a designer, and to consider it a group effort adds a wonderful dimension that creates even more meaning.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
P.S.- Please note: all backers who pledge over $10 will receive an exclusive invitation to my summer launch party that will take place on Saturday, May 4th 2013. I promise it will be a party to remember.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Every piece I make is different- even if I'm following a general design it is very important to me that each piece has its own "soul." Since each piece will be slightly different from the photos included here, there needs to be a certain level of trust in my creative instincts. There will be variance in color and patina and no way to know exactly what your piece will look like until it arrives on your doorstep. As far as I'm concerned, this half of the fun!
I am happy to receive messages that might guide your design such as:
"I prefer gold tones/silver tones or, I like the color red," etc., etc. I am also able to alter the size of your piece slightly. If I don't receive a message from you, the size of your reward item will closely match the listed measurements.
I am a seasoned designer and there should be no concern about receiving your rewards in a timely manner. I am thoroughly committed to this project and I am especially committed to the good will of my backers! Thank you once again!
