My beautiful set will be assembled by Tony Ferrieri from the Pittsburgh City Theater. Because the musical is set in a bar, Tony has designed a beautiful stainless steel bar, 6'2", that comes apart into 4 individual pub tables. The monologues of the characters happen at the individual tables, and the hi-jinx takes place when the bar is assembled.
In addition are the doors of the bar. They are 3 sets of doors. (I have a fascination and love for doors, how they work, and the possibilities of things made out of doors after they have served their purpose as doors.) The doors are on casters, and rotate on the stage, move from one place to the next to become a scene - the bar (entrance, men's and women's room), a bedroom, an apartment, or a dark alley.
The show couldn't happen without my minimal set. It will serve me for all future runs of the show, and this small investment will help me continue my 6-some year old dream of "Date Me, Do Me, Dump Me" coming to life!
