Venus and Adonis is a stunning, wry, poignant, erotic poem laden with theatricality, irony, passion and pathos. It captures passages and themes dating back to Ovid, rekindled in the works of Christopher Marlowe (Hero and Leander) and Spenser (Faerie Queene) and has been immortalized in paintings by visual artists ranging from Titian to Rubens. Even the eerie theme song for the Haunted Mansion attractions at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and Tokyo Disneyland , "Grim Grinning Ghosts," is derived from a line in Venus and Adonis (notes Study of Shakespeare author Sadie Kingery):
Venus and Adonis is seldom, if ever, performed as a theatrical presentation. However, its narrative form allows for dialogue and theatrical interpretation. Therefore, it is our intent to show the poem, through theatrical device, as a viable theatre chamber piece suitable for small and medium sized theatre venues throughout the world. Our production has been selected by the 2012 Prague Fringe Festival and co- sponsored by the Prague Shakespeare Festival! Join the team- PRAGUE OR BUST
