Production Timelines

We're still on schedule for a July delivery. We are going back and forth with our manufacturer to make various updates to components in advance of production starting soon.

We might technically start some of the production before Chinese New Year (CNY), but production should complete in April. We had a really tight window in which we might have been able to complete manufacturing before CNY, but that required all the miniatures to be perfect on the first injection molding samples (spoiler: they weren't, which is typical).

Pre-Production Samples

We got pre-production samples of all the plastic miniatures right before Christmas and samples of everything else right before New Year's. There are a lot of photos to enjoy below!

Here are some notable items regarding production:

  •  Injection molding process continues. We approved 5 of the 10 unique models and are awaiting the second set of injection molding samples with the changes to the other 5.
  •  Printed components will have a few final touch-ups after looking at everything closely in person, but are mostly ready for production.
  •  Plastic trays are now in the tweaking process with our manufacturer after they sent us the first injection samples. We are really pleased with the progress so far, but this our biggest focus to get them all right. Thankfully we can go through multiple iterations quickly.
  •  Wood pieces are looking good and have minor changes to address.
  •  Neoprene playmat will be brightened as part of a couple final touch-ups.

We were really excited to see the samples! What do you think? Feel free to ask any questions.

Cheers, Kirk and Emily

Boris. Look at the details that carried all the way through the injection molding process! (Again the leader minis and their bases will be gray in the final production).

Sviatopolk. Some of the changes needed were really simple - such as thickening his cape in one small place on his right that has a small hole.

Maria. Some changes are bigger, such as making sure her arrow is straight and not bent. This first injection molding pass was done entirely in PVC, but she should end up with ABS for the bow/arrow to make the arrow straight.

@Ahmed: Thanks for pointing that out. Sviatopolk’s axe handle is bent, but that is by design. See the 3D model here - the bend in the injection mold is just a little more bent but is very close!

      @Rob: You're welcome!

@Edvinas: Thanks for sharing your concerns. We will make the playmat only around 10% brighter, so it won't be too bright. Typically, neoprene prints darker than paper/cardboard and best practice is to lighten the artwork at least a little. We didn't lighten the artwork any for the first sample to get a baseline color and now we'll try the 10% brightness increase. We will get another sample to confirm, of course.

No, the figures will be all gray. I'm not sure why, but our manufacturer had them made in orange for the sample.

@pagoda79: I just messaged you about adding the playmat. We have a limited number of extra playmats we arranged to produce, so if anyone still wants to add the playmat - please send us a message.

Wow, really makes me wish I had added the playmat. Is there a way to still do so? I don’t see it in the pledge manager, though it looks like adding gearworks is still possible.

I hope the playmat will not betoo bright, because if it is, in my honest opinion, due time it will fade and be even brighter. What i'm trying to say i think darker one would be beter all in all for the longevity of the mat. Also the figures will be that specific color? If so it will be pretty hard to paint them.

@StormsoN: Thank you! We appreciate your input. The game box is currently 258 x 338 x 100 mm, but it may increase to 102 mm tall. We'll know for sure in the next week or so.

Quick (follo-up) question: What are the (final) dimensions of the box?

      Great update, nice pictures!
I really like the big neoprene playmat and its edge stitching!
For me personally the brightness would be okay, I like the bit dark theme, but I'll trust your judgement ;-)
