Hey backers,

We have lots of big news in this update! First off, thanks to all our new backers - we are so glad to have your help making this game!

Read on for:

  • a large playmat add-on
  • cheaper international shipping
  • a stretch goal update

Playmat Add-on

As requested by many of you, we are pleased to be able to offer a premium oversized playmat for Rurik with edge stitching! The playmat will feature the same art on the game board, but is 20% larger.

To add the playmat, simply increase your pledge by $30. It will be shipped separately from the game in a playmat mailing box.

Free shipping to US, UK, China, Hong Kong and $5 shipping everywhere else.

Cheaper International Shipping

We heard your feedback - that international shipping was expensive - and found another reliable fulfillment partner to help reduce international shipping rates (along with PKG subsidizing even more of the shipping cost). Rewards are still EU friendly (no additional duties/VAT due upon receipt of game).

If you live outside of "Zone 0", you can switch your reward to "BOYAR (International)" or "PRINCE (International)" to save on shipping.

Please tell your friends about the reduced shipping rates!

Many international shipping rates decreased by $5 (and some even more).

Stretch Goal Update

Great job on unlocking the thicker game board (now premium thickness) and 8th leader! Yaroslav is still working on the 8th leader - we will unveil him soon!

Let's see what we can unlock next:

This plastic tray is going to be awesome!
This plastic tray is going to be awesome!
  • At $87k, we will have Yaroslav illustrate a unique city illustration at the top of each player's household mat.
  • At $91k, we will upgrade the game box to a premium thickness of 2.2 mm for greater durability.
  • At $94k, we will add 15 goods tokens to increase replayability. You can place these randomly on top of the existing region good markers (that are printed on the game board) so goods are in different configurations.
  • At $100k, we will add another plastic tray (and a lid) - this time to hold all the goods and coins in their own compartments! This will make set-up and tear-down easier, and make it easier to keep the resources separately during gameplay.

We can do it! You can help spread the word about Rurik by changing your social media images to one of these backer icons. Click here to access 7 options.

@Pipe LLanos: Sorry about that, I will look into it. Just sent you a message.

I changed to Prince international but it still is charging me +45$ shipping.

      I'm from Mexico

@Daniel: Great question. All copies of the game come with the wooden honey and the cardboard game board. If you pay for the add-ons they come outside the game box.

I was wondering, if I get the play mat and plastic honey pieces do I still get the regular board and wood honey pieces?

Please, do NOT cut the mat into four pieces! :) That defeats the idea of having a bend-free playing surface (even though I do understand that it's not very convenient to store the mat separately from the game). In fact, I have a question about the shipping "box" for the mat: is it going to be a tube or an actual rectangular box? B/c if it's not going to be a perfectly flat surface stored in the tube, I'd be less interested (if I have to bend it and store it in a rectangular box, it's not going to be much different from the regular game board, IMO).

      Great update, love the mat.

As an idea what about splitting the mat into four pieces so it fits into a slightly deeper box.

That said, I'd prefer to see the plastic tray as a stretch goal before a thicker box.

Thanks for the update! Great news on the shipping costs! :) I have to admit that i did find 20$ for shipping to Germany quite expensive. Good to see that you were able to find another solution.
