Happy Friday!

Thank you to all of our new backers and for the kind words from so many! We're so glad to have you be a part of Rurik.

We have a lot to share:

  • a full solo mode playthrough
  • upcoming stretch goals and social goals (your help is needed)
  • group pledges
  • the possibility of a playmat add-on

Apologies on the delayed update - we're a small publisher run by people with day jobs so we appreciate your patience!

Sneak peak at some fun art from Rurik. :)

85% Funded

We're getting close to funding! We're not quite there yet, so we could really use your help.

Please tell a friend today about Rurik and why they you think they'd enjoy it. Also please reach out to your favorite board game podcasts to ask if they would give a shout-out to Rurik.

Solo Mode

Many of you have asked for more details on solo mode! We're glad you asked.

High Level Summary

The AI changes between 3 modes ("ambitions") throughout the game and within each mode it has a different approach to bidding and resolving actions. Its bidding is only revealed one bid at a time so you are never quite sure how it will play! The dynamic solo opponent has received a lot of high praise from playtesters and reviewers alike.

Solo Playthrough

Maybe the best way to explain more fully is to watch a full playthrough by Robert Geistlinger of The Dice Tower (spoiler: he really liked it!)

Now and then a Kickstarter really just grabs me as "must have" - this is one of those. This game seriously scratched all of my gaming itches at once. - Robert Geistlinger

Stretch & Social Goals

Not to get ahead of ourselves, but we have posted the first stretch goals and some social goals we can work towards right away.

We can unlock 2 new intrigue cards by retweeting and sharing 2 posts on social media!

Stretch Goals

We received some feedback about the initial gaps between the stretch goals. We listen to our backers, and made some changes to unlock these sooner. :) Adding miniatures is not cheap but we hope you enjoy this mysterious new leader we will share more about soon!

Group Pledges

We have been working through shipping estimates for group pledges all over the world. Initially we were going to add a separate pledge level for group pledges, but there are too many variables to easily account for each scenario in a single pledge level.

If you plan to order 6 or more copies, please PM us for details and we'll share more details. Shipping is free for group pledges, so hopefully that encourages more international backers to join!

Playmat Add-on

We're getting a lot of requests about a playmat add-on. We are interested in offering this, but we need a minimum number of backers willing to buy one to be able to produce it.

Would you mind taking this quick survey to help us gauge interest?

This is the latest playmat we produced with a classy box for our last game, Gearworks.

      Kirk,

The solo rules look really solid...I'm curious to see what you do with the Movement Rules as they're still under construction as it were based on the video.

      Cheers,
      Joe
