KC GLAMOUR - BURLESQUE IN THE CITY OF FOUNTAINS is coming to the 2011 KC Fringe Festival!
My name is Russ Matthews and I love burlesque.
Okay, so I love a lot of things and photography is my talent and passion. But I do love burlesque and the performers who bring it to stages all over the world. Here in Kansas City, there is a groundswell of support for the neo-burlesque movement with troupes bringing shows to the fans of burlesque nearly every weekend. As a photographer here in Kansas City, I have been fortunate enough to capture our burly scene on "film" and would now like to present a selection of photographs at the 2011 KC Fringe Festival.
Because of space issues and the fact that I am sharing the Visual Arts venue with several different Kansas City artists, I have been forced to whittle my original show idea from about twenty photographs to five. Oh, but what a five they are! I have chosen the absolute best from my original show proposal to present at the KC Fringe Festival. And if all goes well and this Kickstarter is successful, I fully anticipate that I will be able to market this initial project into a full gallery show within the year!
I would like to thank all of the Kansas City burlesque troupes and performers who have supported me as I have supported them, particularly Bee's Knees Burlesque, Burlesque Downtown Underground, Kansas City Cabaret, the Kansas City Society of Burlesque, and Eartha Delights.
I hope you will choose to help me promote and explore the theme of KC Glamour this year at the KC Fringe Festival!
(NOTE - Please add $10 to all international orders)
You can find the photos that will be in the show on the webpage for the show: http://www.russmattphoto.com/kcglam.html. The thumbnails on that page link to larger photos for you to look at.
All money raised will go to the matting and framing of the photographs and to the printing and shipping of the pledge rewards. In the event that I raise more money than the goal, I will begin printing, matting and framing photographs which are destined for the larger post-KC Fringe show.
