Over the past six years of making the world’s most stunning made-to-order custom cruisers, we’ve paid careful attention to what our customer’s want. We believe we have created a simpler, faster and more rewarding way to purchase a Villy Custom Bike - predesigned & Limited Edition. From this point forward, we are streamlining our business model to offer predesigned styles to our customers and allow them to participate in "giving back".
For every 10 bikes purchased, we give 1 Dream Bike to a kid with cancer.
At minimum, we want to sell 80 of these new bikes, which allows us to give away 8 bikes. If this project is as important to you as it is to us, we hope to be able to give away hundreds of bikes.
What started as a cruiser bike boutique (hobby) turned into a premier bike brand with a higher calling.
We are very proud to showcase 6 exclusive, quality-built Villy Custom cruiser bikes, designed for uniqueness, style and the pure joy of riding for fun. Without wires or gears you will enjoy the simplicity and low-maintenance ease of owning one of these stunning bikes. With simple seat and handlebar adjustments, our frames fit anyone from 5’ tall to 6’5” and with these amazing color combinations, surely we have something for everyone. Equipped with an oversized seat, perfect riding position and handlebars that reach back your way, you will absolutely LOVE riding this bike.
We have named each bike after one of our previous recipients and added the way they feel when they ride their bike. We want to bring their love of their bikes to all of our customers, and remember how much fun a bike can bring.
The Genisis of our Foundation started when I lost my mother (Joan Hicks) to Ovarian Cancer back in 2005. When I would go to Chemo treatments with my Mom sometimes there would be young kids receiving treatment and she would always tell me not to feel sorry for her, but to feel sorry for the kids and their families. Imagine the scary thought of having your child deal with something as big as this at such a young age. In late 2015, I decided to give back by honoring my Mom’s words. I came up with the idea to give custom bikes to kids battling Cancer, approached Children’s Health, in Dallas, and within a few weeks, we were on our way. We decided to name it “Villy’s Remarkable Ride Foundation” because our bikes are “Remarkable Rides” and LIFE is a “Remarkable Ride”, as well. Sometimes we get caught up in everyday life and forget that until something wakes us up….like Cancer! We began surprising a kid every month with a party event attended by friends, family, Doctors and nurses, in order to create a magic moment they would never forget and a bike that they could look forward to riding. Shortly thereafter, we began working with Comerica Bank, as our lead sponsor, in order to expand the Foundation. We now know how much the bikes mean to the kids and their families, so, we want to streamline our concept so that we can give many more kids this awesome experience.
To date, we have given out 14 bikes through our Villy’s Remarkable Ride Foundation. Our previous surprise “giveaways” have been incredible. We literally roll out the red carpet with a bubble machine, music, snacks, and all the bells and whistles. The kid's family, friends, Doctors and nurses (from Children's Health) are all present along with the Villy Custom staff + our lead sponsor, Comerica Bank. Best described as a huge surprise birthday party without a birthday…. just a kid getting an amazing surprise and an amazing bike.
I rented a beach bike to explore Venice Beach, CA on a business trip back in 2009. That was the day I fell in love with riding just for the fun of it in a laid back fashion. Without any bike or retail experience, I came back to Texas and quickly opened up Dallas’s first ever Beach Bike Boutique (and we don’t have a beach within 5 hours of Dallas). We tapped into a boring market and started making headlines by experimenting with our own frames and mixing unique color schemes together that were not prevalent in the bike industry. We continued pushing the limits on customization by offering colored chains, tires, custom powder coating, hand-made badges and named the Brand after my dog, Villy. We built a world-class website in 2010 and began selling our bikes directly to the customer. We were discovered by Entrepreneur Magazine, Shark Tank (2012) and even endorsed by Ellen Degeneres (2015). When you see a Villy Custom, you know it’s a Villy Custom, immediately. Our secret sauce is our color schemes, specialty finishes and the fun vibe of our company. We focus on making comfortable bikes for people who love to stand out and want to ride for pure enjoyment.
Risks and challenges
When it comes to a comfortable ride that removes the stresses of our fast-paced world, we've nailed it. You are invited to our shop in Dallas to ride and feel the relief for yourself! Working on these bikes for 8 years has allowed us to perfect the bike's specifics, increase production efficiency, and decrease logistical delays. As with all overseas trade, unforeseen complications can always pop up. However, we don't see much risk associated with Round 1 or 2 production.
There are millions of kids who deserve the moments of joy that our bikes bring. We see an obstacle in partnering with the right associations to scale our 10 for 1 program nationally. Building throughout current partners/sponsors will be key.
We will keep our backers posted every step throughout the production and giveaway process.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
