About this project
Impressive Mastermind, examines notions of privacy and the law, particularly with regard to the USA Patriot Act implemented following the events of 9/11. FDANCE's artistic director, Rebecca A. Ferrell, believes that numerous freedoms related to personal privacy, especially those rights protected by the Fourth Amendment, were diminished in order to ostensibly seek out potential terrorists. Through the vehicle of a theatrical dance performance, Impressive Mastermind investigates these privacy issues on a public and personal level and also asks the audience to question their own views on government policies regarding personal privacy, including illegal search and seizure. Moving away from the usual spectacle of traditional theater, this multi-dimensional piece explores an experiential examination of how the public relates to what is real and what is considered performative.
Impressive Mastermind will be presented on February 8 and 9, 2013 at Dogtown Dance Theatre in Richmond, Virginia. This piece was originally created in Phoenix, Arizona at Arizona State University and is currently being restaged for its East Coast premiere. This will be the first performance the artist has presented in her hometown of Richmond in 5 years.
A project of this magnitude is a large financial undertaking and we need your help! The funds from Kickstarter would go towards offsetting the costs of restaging Impressive Mastermind. These include the costs of dancers, a lighting designer, a technical director, video editors, costumes, promotion material and props, LOTS of props! The generous support of our Kickstarter supporters will make this production possible, and allow FDANCE to achieve success in reproducing original work while reaching an entirely new audience.

Risks and challenges
The main challenge is transforming a preexisting performance area into a security checkpoint. We have requested additional time during technical rehearsals to prep the space and we have created a timeline detailing each event that happens within the performance area.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
