Alkemia: Destiny's Recipe (Canceled)
Become the new 'Grand Alchemist' and save Alkemia in this resource management item crafting tabletop game.
To those who come across this page:
After some discussion with our team, we decided it was important to postpone this campaign for several months until early spring 2016.
We are excited to relaunch in several months and are looking forward to an updated and more stronger campaign and Kickstarter page. Below is a list of things you can look forward to in Alkemia's relaunch:
- Better images of game materials and what you would actually be getting in your purchases instead of just current prototype images.
- A reworked game intro video
- We will be also looking at our pricing options to bring you a much more realistic and obtainable funding goal.
- More samples of in-game art
- More samples of the "Alchempendium" so you will know more of what you are getting there.
- Many more professional game review videos - General streamlining of some game components
- and perhaps some more surprises when we actually get to our relaunch date ;)
If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We thank you for your potential interest in Alkemia and hope you'll come back around for our relaunch in the spring (specific date to be announced later)

Welcome to a world where creation is but a simple step away from ingenuity and a few simple resources imbued with ancient elements - this is the world of Alkemia. Prepare to harness the primal art of alchemy and join the ranks of creators who have been shaping and reforming the raw world of Alkemia into a thriving livelihood centered around a grand city of Alchemy, Crasis. Governed by a circle of seers and a single Grand Alchemist, who wields boundless talent and protects the ancient secrets of the Greater Elemental Spirits, Crasis currently seeks it's next Grand Alchemist; this position will be held by one of few summoned to prove their abilities and will be tasked to synthesize the legendary Crest of Creation. This crest, a fabled mysticism documented to usher in the age of alchemy, can only be crafted by one skilled alchemist able to harness the 6 elements - earth, fire, water, air, ether, and fortune.
Gear up and ready yourself to harvest rare and valuable components in endless forests and spiritually dense bogs; discover the revered Temple of the Greater Elemental Spirits and the benevolent Tree of Endless Possibilities. Wherever your journey leads you, a world of discovery unfolds before the curious. Available to most but mastered by few, perhaps you will be able to elevate one of Alkemia's up and coming alchemists to the ranks of Grand Alchemist.
Players will take the role of one of six Alchemists who have volunteered to revitalize Alkemia by attempting to synthesize alchemy’s ultimate mystery, the Crest of Creation. Legends say that the Crest will only reveal itself to Alchemists wise enough to uncover one of its lost recipes and talented enough to break the seals on objects of myth. Do you have what it takes to be worthy of the Crest of Creation? Be prepared, for Destiny’s recipe calls for you.
- A resource management, item synthesizing, modular board game for 3 - 6 players ages 14+
- A good balance between luck and strategy that provides you with many possible paths to take.
- High replay-ability: Draft style Field creation, Item recipes shifting around the Bazaar, a different Crest recipe every time, and seemingly endless combinations of abilities will keep you coming back again and again.
- Elements of cooperative and competitive game play, with the focus mainly on your Alchemist's journey of growth.
- Beautiful original artwork to help you get into the Alkemian spirit.
- Check out a closer look at our characters plus some samples of the artwork (both sketches and finished versions) here.
- An immersive story that you can get in to as much or as little as you desire.
The player’s ultimate goal is to create the Crest of Creation. In order to create the Crest, a player must satisfy their revealed Crest of Creation recipe and have unlocked both of their objects of myth, known as Artifacts. The Artifacts become unlocked as the player’s Crest recipe is revealed. The Crest recipe is revealed in pieces, and In order to reveal those pieces, the player will have to purchase recipes to and synthesize Items found in the Bazaar. To purchase and synthesize these Items, the player will move around the Foraging Field and gather exotic Reagents that can be used as currency to purchase Items, as ingredients to synthesizing Items, and more.
Players will spend their turns, or phases, either gathering Reagents in the Foraging Field or acquiring Item recipes in the Bazaar. Each turn, the player can choose which zone they wish to interact with, where each zone presents actions that allow for the player to do different things.
For example: Foraging Actions allow the player to move around the Field and gather Reagents from the Elemental draw piles...
While Bazaar Actions allow players to purchase recipes by exchanging SEED and shifting the Bazaar's wares...
Players will gather reagents mainly to use their SEED value or to use their Element or Type. SEED is required to purchase Items in the Bazaar, for SEED sacrifices, and more. Bazaar transactions using SEED will be the main way a player gains Item recipes throughout the game.
A Reagent's Element and Type are important when synthesizing Items, as they are the ingredients required by the recipes you purchase from the Bazaar. If you have the ingredients listed on a recipe that you own, you can sacrifice those ingredients in order to create that Item.
Besides boosting your reputation in Alchemist circles, creating Items is the only way an Alchemist will get closer to synthesizing the Crest of Creation. Each Item made through Alchemy reveals one piece of the player's Crest recipe, and once a player has revealed their entire Crest recipe, they need only collect those ingredients and sacrifice them to complete the recipe.
What about Artifacts you ask? Along the way to completing a Crest recipe, powerful Artifacts will become unlocked and require players to sacrifice SEED to unseal their power. Players receive their Artifacts at the beginning of the game but cannot look at them until they're unsealed. In order to win the game and to be the next Grand Alchemist, a player needs to complete their Crest recipe and unseal both Artifacts.
There are many special powers and potential combos to explore that will keep players on their toes. Some Reagents have an extra effect, making the player choose between using the Reagent normally or using it for its effect. Every Item boasts a useful power, as well as every Artifact. Even the Alchemists have special abilities that can be used to aid the journey! With endless potential effect combos, a Foraging Field that changes with every game session, and an ever shifting Bazaar, players will always be discovering something new each time they play Alkemia: Destiny's Recipe.

All of us being frequent Kickstarter backers ourselves, we always appreciate when project organizers talk about where things are at with their project. In honor of that, we will do the same!
Game mechanics: The game mechanics are locked down. They've been in a steady state for several months now, and have been play tested thoroughly. We plan to make no additional game mechanic changes. The rule book has also been written and is being blind tested with various groups we asked to review the game. While the rule book contains all of the information needed to play the game, it is currently undergoing a major cosmetic overhaul and reformatting from its current document state. We will be continuing to play test the game as much as possible between now and its release.
Art: This game has a lot of art. There are 120 card images, various tokens, 16 Field tiles, 6 characters, box art... and more! Currently, the only portion of art still being worked is the card art. We have one main artist working on those, and she's about 50% done with them now. We are confident that we'll be able to get them all done by our deadline, however If not, we have another potential artist that may come in and help speed things up.
Here's some of the more recently completed art:
Formatting: Some of the cards and other 'in game' imagery shown are using an old format (reagent and item cards, field tiles, rule book). The cards are the biggest example of this and we have found a few things that needed changing with this old format; therefore we will be working on upgrading the cards to a new and better format. Some of the improvements will include larger, more readable fonts and better organization of game play icons.
Funding: The money raised through this campaign is going to be used predominately to produce and ship the game to you, the backers. All extra games will be added to our inventory and make us able to sell the game at conventions and to retailers. We're planning to order 1000 games currently, unless a greater need develops. The remaining funds will be used to pay for all the extras and our remaining art.
Video Review from SINergy Gaming:
-"The artwork is stunning and the idea is unique"
-"It is an excellent blend of strategy and luck"
Out of the box impression from Forensic Gameology: "From just opening the box and looking through the components, I saw that Alkemia captures the feel of gathering parts and making items with the flavor text on the cards. The sand that takes in sunlight and remains warm, and the rushing water that still crashes in its jar are just two of the elements that give some context to this game. The player aid shows a great potential for player-interaction, bartering with and even stealing from other players. With a Public slot for items, you will have to use your wits to get what you need, and deny the other players what they want. I'm excited to play."

Gameplay review from Mike Kanarek of Aviary Games (Creator of the game 'Alchemy'): "Alkemia was a gorgeous game that was quick to pick up and gave me a lot to do as the game progressed. The game was unique in that as the game progressed, the feel of play changed rapidly based on the strategy I was pursuing on the different things that other players had achieved. It is a well-balanced game that is simple enough for newer gamers with enough depth to keep me entertained. A very strong first offering from KinSoul Studio and an obvious labor of love that people should check out - it is the second best game about alchemy that I've played!".

Space Tavern Games included us in an episode of At the Tavern! Check us out as we talk about Alkemia and how it came to be. Here or below:
Gen Con 2015 play tester quote: “Very creative and enjoyable! Taking strategy and competition to a new fun and artistic level! Love the art work and how every game plays different from the last! Truly no game like it!!”
Temple Con 2015 play tester quote: "I think there was a lot going on that I didn't explore yet. Having a better idea of character abilities and items after playing a few times would make it even more exciting. I think the concept was really fun and unique".
Risks and challenges
Art: We are still working towards completing the art for the various cards. Any major delays with this will cause delays in the delivery of the game. We will be very watchful of this, and if it looks like we're falling behind we'll bring on more artists to speed up the process.
Shipping: Shipping is always a risk and we're working hard to make sure this goes smoothly. We'll be sure to keep all our backers informed on the status of everything, so there should be no surprises.
Additional Products: We're working with some other companies to bring you the extras we're offering. If they experience any delays or other issues, delivery of those rewards may be affected. If the delays become too much, we'll make sure those backers get everything else in the meantime.
With everything mentioned here, and more, we'll be sure to keep everyone as up to date on the process as possible. This is our first time producing a game, but we're confident that we're prepared to deliver this game. We're doing our best to plan ahead and minimize the chances of anything delaying our backers from getting their rewards.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
