Dear friends and supporters,
My name is Jen Pague and I am the founder, songwriter, and lead singer of Vita and the Woolf. We're a soul-pop/synth-pop band out of Philly and we have been hard at work for the last 3 years trying to make a splash. Well, it’s finally happening! We've been working hard. Thanks to our fans, we have been able to sell out venues, get the band on rotation on 88.5 WXPN, have several radio appearances, go on two pretty successful tours all over the country, independently record and produce our first demo EP, and meet some amazing people along the way. It's been a lot of work but it's all been worth it. I have loved every second of it, even the struggles. Now it’s finally time to take things to the next level and show the world what we can really do. Without support from fans, friends, and family, I would never be where I am today. We can go much further, but we can’t do it without your help.
We need your help to record our next EP, Tunnels, and we are totally ready to go for it. We’ve got a bunch of new songs written and we are ready to get rolling. You can get a taste of one of the tracks that's going to be on the album in our video above. We have a great production team signed on and a fantastic recording studio picked out. Everyone is ready to begin recording in April after we return from our tour to SXSW. We believe this record is the one that will really help us get to the next stage of playing music in the U.S. and hopefully within the next year, all over the world! I'm so excited to show you what we've been working on. With your support we can make this happen.
This album is about me growing out of a dark place and into a new, more content, and productive phase of my life. The record was written over the course of this transition and I think it reflects an uplifting and powerful mood that is still rooted in a bit of darkness. I tried to make the music as honest as possible so as to inspire my fans, new and old. This album means so much to me because it will be my debut outing to the industry and the larger world outside Philly. This EP will be marketed to people in the industry who can make things happen in my career as an artist. With some big shows yet to be announced for this summer, I can't wait to finally, with your help, have a platform and a product to share with everyone.
Thank you so much,
Risks and challenges
If this project for the new EP Tunnels gets funded, we have everything well planned out to make sure the project stays on track. I already have over ten songs written and demo'd for the project and we will choose 7 to put on the EP. I have my two engineers and producers picked out, Alex Santilli and Dave Pettit, and we are set to record in the brand new Spice House Sound recording studio in Philadelphia. We have T-shirts and promotional material ready to go as well as studio time set aside to begin production in mid April/May.
Risks and challenges are part of the creative process, and after being a band for nearly three years, Vita and the Woolf is used to handling them. From having members quit, to losing money, and having major setbacks in production during the making of the last EP, the passion of music is what keeps us going. We as a band have learned so much about how to survive as musicians and artists while on the road and at home. Taking risks is always part of the creative process and that is exactly what we plan on doing as we venture into creating an EP to market to labels and important industry folk. Having the drive, motivation and need to create art in a industry that at times undervalues music itself, the love for art and music keeps this band going and will keep it going.
