Operation Candy Bomber
A cooperative board game that offers a variety of ways to play and provides opportunity to learn about and partake in WWII history.
A Cooperative Board Game
It’s 1948, and World War II has left Germany divided between Ally and Soviet powers. Because Ally-controlled West Berlin is locked behind Soviet borders and cut off from all land transport, the people of the city must rely entirely on air support for all their supplies.
Play as a pilot, each with their own unique power, in Operation Candy Bomber and work cooperatively with the other players to strategize how best to use each character’s strengths to fly missions in and out of West Berlin and help the people avoid starvation under the threat of Soviet control.
You may be lucky enough to know someone who has play-tested Operation Candy Bomber, but for everyone else, here is a video to explain things a bit more.
You can also read the rules for Operation Candy Bomber here.
In return for your support, you will get a first edition copy of Operation Candy Bomber, a Kickstarter Exclusive - a 20" x 28" fan poster, and a Kickstarter Exclusive Wiggly Wings Challenge. You also have the option to order extra copies of the game with your pledge. One pledge level even allows you to have one of the player characters illustrated in your likeness!
The historical variant offers a completely new and exciting way to play the game and is exclusive only to Kickstarter backers as an appreciation for backing us. This will arrive as a single designed and printed page with your Kickstarter copy for all applicable reward levels. This will not be available on the retail market when the game goes to stores.
The game board is a map of West Berlin during the time of WWII. Each turn, the players draw a card to see which area of West Berlin eats their rations. It is up to the players (with a limited number of actions) to drop off rations or candy to the people and keep the areas fed. Candy will be taken at the same time as rations and when enough candy is taken, players get rewarded in the form of postcards.
While players are trying to keep the people alive, winter is slowly creeping in, making the game harder and harder. Eventually it becomes too cold and the planes can no longer take off, which will end the game unless players have completed the required number of operations, which are essentially missions.
Currently, the game is only available in English, although the territories covered on the game board are in German as it is set in West Berlin. If you would like us to translate the instruction manual into your language, please fill out the form here. If enough people request a translation into a different language, we will provide a downloadable PDF of the instruction manual in that language for FREE!
As more people back the project, stretch goals will be unlocked that will add additional content and features to the game for free. Any unlocked stretch goals will be provided with all applicable pledge levels.
We are offering FREE shipping for US and Canada. Unfortunately, we can't offer the same outside these countries because it is simply too expensive. We do, however, have relations with a distribution company in the UK that will be handling fulfillment for Europe, which means no additional VAT charge for any backers in Europe. Shipping charges are as follows:
- US and Canada - FREE
- Europe (EU and other European countries) - $15
- Australia - $20
- China - $20
- Other - $30
Shipping for the retailer pledge is only free for US, excluding Alaska and Hawaii.
Cedar Fort Publishing and Media has been in business since 1986. We publish around 120 new books each year as well as 150 new gift products each year. Most of our gift products are manufactured overseas and we have long-standing relationships with many manufacturers. Although we are experienced in publishing products and selling to retailers, this is our first Kickstarter campaign where we are reaching out directly to the public. We are excited about this project and have put a lot of hours into its creation. Members of our staff that have directly worked on this project are shown below. Feel free to reach out to us at email@example.com. If you wish to learn more about the amazing illustrator, Jeff, you can visit his website here.
Most pledge levels come with a copy of the game. If you want to add extra copies to your pledge to save on shipping, then simply increase your pledge amount by the same amount of the game version, "Chocolate Flier Pledge." To do this, manually increase the dollar total when making your pledge OR click the blue "Manage" button next to a previously made pledge and make the change.

Risks and challenges
Our biggest challenge to date, outside of shipping prices, which are always a challenge, has been getting the word out to the right people. As most of you know, there are lots of things vying for our attention in the marketplace. Trying to hone in on the history buffs that like board games as well as families that want creative ways to teach their children about history can be challenging. With the help of our marketing specialist and others, however, we are plowing through this and finding new avenues regularly. If you fall into this target market and know others that would appreciate such a game, we would love your help in spreading the word.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
