Load your goods, choose the best route and prepare to navigate to the destination terminal. Be careful, there may be some unexpected events along the way. Make your company the biggest!
Are you ready for the challenge?
MARITIME BUSINESS is a fun board game for 2-6 players (depending on the versión). It is a game to play with family or friends. We recommend a minimum age of 10 years.
The game consists of collecting and delivering goods in different ports and making money to make your company the biggest, choosing the best routes to transport containers, LNG, oil and passengers between terminals.
The game is played on a transparent blue methacrylate board that simulates the ocean. There are five types of ships, small container carriers (capacity for 4 containers), large container carriers (capacity for 6 containers), oil tankers, LNG carrier and ROpax Ferry. (More models in “Stretch goals”).
The game has 4 types of terminals. Only the kickstarter version will have an oil platform. There are terminals that accept container ships, oil tankers, LNG vessels and RO-pax. However, other terminals are not prepared for all types of ships.
There are three types of cards in the game. The setback cards that will be used according to the result of the roll of the dice while advancing on the board.
Ship property cards, each ship has its own chart indicating the purchase price, re-sale price and mortgage price.
Finally, route property cards are essential to be able to transport goods and they indicate the purchase price, re-sale price and mortgage price of that line, as well as the transport prices of each type of container within the route.
Each player starts the game with a small container ship (with capacity for 4 containers). The ship's chimney can be changed colour to identify who owns the ship.
All players will start the game from the center of the tabletop and will have to set course for the terminal of their choice.
The first thing players will have to do when they arrive at the terminal is to buy a route line card, which will give them route operating privileges.
On the linea property card there is a list of prices that will be paid for the transport of the different goods. Depending on the price of transport and the goods available, the player can load his ship with the most profitable option.
Immediately after loading the goods you receive the money for the transport. The currency of the game is called “SHIP COIN”. There are bills of 50, 100, 500, 1000 and 5000 ship coins.
You will advance the play by rolling a dice, which has four sides with numbers and two sides with anchors. If the anchor comes out, means you have to pick up a setback card.
Bad weather conditions, pirates or a breakdown on your vessel can benefit your opponents!.
Throughout the game you can increase your fleet by buying ships such as other container ships, oil tankers, LNG vessels or passenger ships. If you need money to expand your business you can mortgage your boats and your lines of operation.
The winner will be the one with the most money and property when the banking system is ruined.
The game is available in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish. The rules are included in the box. The translation will be done by a professional.

When you back MARITIME BUSINESS it makes us happy to know more people will enjoy this game and it provides the funds to be able to manufacture the minimum run of games including the expensive injection molds for the vessels and other pieces. We've been designing and prototyping this game for 10 months and we're happy with the result, but you have to keep in mind that it's now a beta project and therefore the quality may not be what we want. The pieces of the prototype are made in 3D printing but the final game will be made of molded plastic and resin. That's why we have set the goal of 20,000€ as we need a minimum number of games to make manufacturing possible.

Risks and challenges
MARITIME BUSINESS has been extensively playtested. The game is completely finished. We've got multiple manufacturing quotes, and we are prepared to ship out a high quality game at any successful funding level.
Making this game has a high cost as the materials will be of high quality. Above all, the board is a very expensive piece. Even so, we wanted to put up several levels of rewards in order to be able to reach the entire public by adjusting the prices.
It was hard to find the kind of tabletop we really wanted, we almost gave up on it, we didn't want to make a carton board like any other tabletop. After asking in many companies we were able to reach an agreement on quality and price to be able to carry out this project.
In short, we will be very happy if you support our project, it would be a sign that we are doing something right and that the work was worthwhile.
