Hi - my name is Erin Lang and I founded Garden Creamery just over three years ago with a line of vegan sorbet that quickly became known for its wildly creamy texture and exotic flavor combinations. We were picked up by dozens of local stores and became a Bay Area favorite in no time.
Last year, I realized that in order to take the product to a new level, I needed a direct way to connect with my customers. So I bought a bare bones trailer and hit the street food scene to bring our product to the people.
I also introduced a new line of dairy-based frozen novelties just for the trailer - and people loved it! We were even fortunate enough to be taken on by Vehicle SF - a leading design company who also fell in love with our product while visiting the Soma Streat Food Park across the way from their headquarters. They're the ones who designed our spiffy new logo and packaging.
But after a full season of the food truck circuit, it’s become obvious that our productionless trailer is not sustainable for events. We're retiring it in February so we can roll our resources and energy into our newest adventure - a tricked out dessert truck!

What We Need:
We’ve already purchased a truck, but we need money for soft serve machines, permits, branding for the truck, and renovations.
Here's a simplified breakdown of what we'll need to trick this truck out -

Prices range from $5,000- $8,000 EACH
The additional funds will be used to cover the incentives and Kickstarter fees. Any extra money we raise will go towards stream lining our store production so we can expand into Whole Foods in San Francisco and beyond.

Sourced and produced in Marin County since 2010 by me (Erin Lang), Garden Creamery uses the best local ingredients and farmers market produce whenever possible. We're best known for our raw agave sweetened vegan sorbet line that can be found in grocery stores throughout the Bay Area. We also have a dairy-based frozen novelty line made from local cream that was specially created for the adoring crowds at farmers markets and street food festivals. Garden Creamery and The ALS Assocation
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, has had a profound impact on my life and Garden Creamery since my mother's diagnosis two years ago. Since the diagnosis, The ALS Association - Golden West Chapter has provided an incredible amount of support to our family. To help spread awareness about this disease and to give back to the organization that has helped us so much, I'll be donating a percentage of my grocery store sales to The ALS Association - Golden West Chapter. That's also why we've included the ALS Assocation fundraiser as one of the incentives. We're really excited about it and would love to chat if you've got ideas!
Risks and challenges
The Truck Fixes Our Current Challenges!
The biggest challenge for us so far hasn't been getting into events or selling our product - it's been finding a sustainable way to produce, store and move our product!
The truck will make it cheaper for us to get to events and allow us to make our product right there, cutting down on our time in the commercial kitchen and need for extra storage.
The truck will also make events even more lucrative, as we'll be increasing our revenue through cold and hot beverages sales from our espresso and smoothie machines.
Equipment and Retrofitting
Equipment and retrofitting can be a tricky business, but we've been pricing and specing everything out all through the winter. We've got equipment and contractors lined up and are confident that we can get the truck up and running within a month of receiving the funds.
Permits, Permits and More Permits!
Permits are the other tricky business. Luckily, we've been through a full season in the food truck scene, so we know exactly what we need and where to go to get it, which is half of the battle when it comes to food trucks in the Bay Area. The time it takes to actually grant the permits is out of our hands, but we're experienced in dotting our i's and crossing our t's and don't expect any unusual delays.
