THE WAY OF THE TIGER
How it Started . . .
Have you ever played one of those interactive books where you get to make choices about the protagonist's actions? How about the slightly more involved versions where you maintain a character sheet to keep track of equipment, stats, or abilities of your hero? These kinds of books were practically the only ones I read as a kid. Perhaps not surprisingly, I was drawn toward role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons and, in no time, began writing my own adventures and serving as "Dungeon Master."
Now that I am finally done with my education, I have redirected my time and energy into something I truly love--beginning my own fantasy gamebook series based off of the world of Shanoong which I have been building and refining since 14.
The first book, Trials of the First Moon is written and on its way out to my backers from my first Kickstarter project:
Now, I have written the manuscript second book of my series, The Quest for Rividia, and am hopeful that the generous strangers of Kickstarter can help me fund the illustrations for this book as well!
The Tiered Rewards!
I have several add-on incentives that can be purchased as well, many from Trials of the First Moon (so new backers need not miss out on a thing from my original)!

Why You Have Nothing to Lose . . .
If funding is not met, it costs you nothing. If funding is met, you will definitely get your copy because the manuscript is already written. I have set the funding goal below what the actual project costs just as I did with the first KS campaign. This is because I am simply hoping for some assistance while putting most of my discretionary income into the project. I will continue my labor of love on this series with or without that funding. Money simply greases the wheels to move things forward (with graphic designers, artists, professional proof-readers, printing costs, related promotional items, etc.). Eventually I hope to have my series picked up by a reputable publisher. At that point, I hope to recoup the rest of my investment. Until then, I am just not giving up and trying to create something that others will enjoy as much as I enjoyed the Lone Wolf Series and others like it which have inspired me to write.

Risks and challenges
The risks are nil. One way or the other, I will complete The Quest for Rividia just as I did for the Trials of the First Moon. Only now, I have considerably more experience guiding my efforts. The challenges are, thankfully, small--completing all of the successive books to my series will be significantly easier than was the first.
I had to work very hard with Trials of the First Moon to lay the foundations for my series. There is the tangible groundwork of the game design and mechanics; illustrations to all melee and missile weapons, adventuring gear, special items, and Shinte animals; various tables, charts, and appendices; the money spent on reusable graphic design. Then there are the intangibles such as time invested in networking and finding the right artists, and individuals to assist with editing, proof-reading, and game-testing; the time invested in learning new skill sets; the process of becoming familiar with how to best create book layouts; and frustrating hours spent manipulating images into more serviceable file types and becoming introduced to ppi's, pixel dimensions, and other such trade-specific specs. Together, both of these types of investments are sure to make the process for book 2 so much more stream-lined than it was for the first.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
