Our Mission: To bring the specialty coffee experience to downtown Scottsville Kentucky, where residents and visitors alike will gather together in a friendly and inviting atmosphere, to share their love of coffee, food and entertainment at an affordable price, while utilizing local Kentucky suppliers.
We are Kyle and Wendy Johnson. Kyle works in construction, serves our military by ways of the KY National Guard for the past 6 years, where he has traveled the US on different assignments, several of those on a volunteer basis, and is a member of the Masonic Lodge here in Scottsville, where he continues to serve others in our community and beyond. Kyle loves the smiles he sees when the Coffee Cart customers experience the freshness of specialty coffee for the first time.
Wendy has worked as a Respiratory Therapist at two local hospitals for the past 9 years serving selflessly those who are struggling with their health. 7 years on night shift will make anyone appreciate those hot cups of coffee! 2 years on day shift has allowed her to operate the Coffee Cart on days off from the hospital. The love of coffee is a shared experience that shows no bounds.
We have operated a mobile coffee cart for the past year, serving pour over coffee, cold brew, Frappes and Iced Coffee in the downtown area. We have catered local events, including weddings, church events, and a personal favorite, the "2017 Solar Eclipse Party" at historic Dumont Hill, where we had customers from as far away as the United Kingdom. As well as some charitable events, including Kilometers for K-9s.
Over the past year our number one question is "Are you open every day?", and number two is "When are you going to open a coffee shop?". Well...After serious consideration, multiple conversations with those in the business, and growing local support, we have decided to step out and put this plan into action.
Plans for the new coffee shop include more than just coffee! We plan to transform this into a place where people want to come hang out, and stay a while. Events such as Sip and Paint, Live Music, Open Mic Nights, Game Nights, Live Comedy, Feature Local Art, Outdoor Seating, etc. are sure to engage the community, and offer some fresh new opportunities for local people to share their talents. The possibilities are endless, and we want our community involved to make this shop a success!
We will also be able to provide a private lounge area that can be reserved for meetings, parties, baby/wedding showers, and more.
We also plan to offer pastries, small breakfast, and lunch items!
We have heard the cries of our local coffee lovers, and we all agree that what our town is missing is a COFFEE SHOP!!! Lets do this Scottsville!! WE CANNOT DO THIS WITHOUT YOU!!

Risks and challenges
This is where we are today. We have located, and secured, an amazing location. 218 E. Main St. Scottsville KY 42164. It is a two story, all glass front, (Imagine the view!) 1960's work of art, with a conveniently placed Drive-Thru.
We went into this knowing there was lots of work to be done, and we are prepared to do so. Since this building has never been used as a restaurant type establishment, changes must be made to accommodate the new business such as adding a new restroom, modifying the existing restroom to meet current building codes, creating handicapped accessibility, install new plumbing into the concrete floor for the espresso machine, ice machine and other required equipment. All these changes must be approved, and we have started that process already. These modifications don't come without a price, and we've come to realize that we need the support of our community to make this happen.
Our goal is to be open in April 2018. Kyle has obligations he must fulfill with the military, as he will be out of the country. For this reason, we will have to be hiring out some of the work we planned on doing ourselves.
We appreciate our communities support in helping us bring the first specialty coffee shop that Scottsville has ever had.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
