We are planning to shoot BON VOYAGE, my 4th short film, in the beginning of 2016 off the coast of Turkey.
Thanks to the investment of Dschoint Ventschr Filmproduktion and private savings by us, the filmmakers, more then half of the needed budget is already secured. But we can not bring this story to the screen without your support. Let us explain our intentions and introduce you to the team behind BON VOYAGE:
A DRAMATIC CONTRAST
Every day, since years, little boats leave the African coasts, overcrowded with desperate passengers, trying to reach Europe. At the same beaches the refugees land, we, the Europeans, enjoy our holidays. For some, the Mediterranean sea is a vacation paradise, for others a saltwater hell. This dramatic contrast is the foundation for the story of our short film BON VOYAGE.
The screenplay is written, the main roles are casted. An international crew is enthusiastic to start shooting in early 2016.
The lead producer is Joel Jent, together with the Swiss production company Dschoint Ventschr Filmproduktion, which produced over 100 movies in the past 20 years. Asli Erdem, a celebrated Turkish indie-film-producer is already preparing on location in Antalya. Ouat Media, a highly successful distribution company, is ready to share BON VOYAGE with an international audience.
All we need now is your support that we can start shooting.
Reto and Silvia are enjoying a wonderful sailing holiday in the Mediterranean sea. But while sailing through the night, far away from land, they discover an overloaded refugee boat, close to sinking. They are shocked, but too afraid to help. So they call the coast guards but loose the boat out of sight into the darkness of the night. In the early morning they find themselves drifting through an ocean of dead bodies. The refugee boat has sunk. Reto and Silvia manage to pull a few survivors out of the cold water: Syrians. This rescue marks the beginning of a dramatic conflict between the hopes and dreams of the refugees, and the fears and ideals of the holiday sailors.
We all know the images of refugees landing at the coasts of Greece or Italy, after their crossings. But what does it really mean to expose your life to the merciless sea? With this film I want to bring the physical and emotional reality of a sea-crossings to our audience. But I also want to ask me and the audience: Are we aware in which comfort and luxury we are living in? How ready to help, to share, to risk our own comfort are we really?

Risks and challenges
Shooting a film, it does not matter on which budget, is always a big challenge. Especially with BON VOYAGE, where the filming takes place on the open water, where we depend on wind and weather and on the skills and sea-steadiness of our actors and crew.
But with Joel Jent and Dschoint Ventschr, after producing more then hundred movies all over the world, we have an extremely experienced production company behind us. Marc directed shortfilms, commercials and music videos, literally from Shanghai to Los Angeles and from New Zealand to Copenhagen. He has a lot of experience in how to pull off challenging projects. Many crew members are experienced sailors and very much at home on the sea. Marc crossed the Atlantic in 2012, the actor Stephane Maeder sails the German North Atlantic regularly. From that perspective we are well prepared and aware of what it needs to pull off this challenging project.
We already secured half of the needed budget. Together with a successful Kickstarter-Campaign we will have the funds to shoot and post produce this film. Trusting the massive experience of Joel Jent, Dschoint Ventschr Filmproduktion und Asli Erdem, but also the on-set experience of Marc, we are confident that we will stay in the timing and budget. But nevertheless: This project is made of passion and idealism. Even if we have to wait for days for the sea to calm down, or re-cast a sea-sick actor: We, the crew behind BON VOYAGE, will finalize this movie.
