EPIC RAGE, the flagship title from Vindicant Game Systems
EPIC RAGE is an original fantasy RPG with a unique rules design, unlimited flexibility, and solid game balance.
Vindicant Games has teamed up with renowned fantasy artist Tom Wood to bring you EPIC RAGE; now with 1,000% more AWESOME!
A sneak peak of the EPIC RAGE system: EPIC RAGE is the first of many planned rpg's that utilize Vindicant Game Systems' RAGE (Readily Adaptable Gaming Experience) system. The system is based around five Stats and five Skills. These ten attributes are combined in pairs to perform any action in the game world. Actions are performed using a multiple 6-sided dice rolling system. In most instances aside from combat, actions are resolved via an opposed rolling system with the acting character trying to exceed the roll of the opposing one.
Characters are built on a point buy system that has been streamlined so as to allow a player familiar with the rules to create a fully customized character within five minutes. Far from being cookie-cutter archetypes, these characters' abilities and talents and limited only by the point totals they are built on and the players' imaginations. Every character, whether it typifies a standard fantasy archetype or rejects them outright, operates under the same set of rules. There are no character classes, so there is no need to learn different guidelines for playing a warrior, a thief, a wizard, a priest, a scout, or anything else. This is accomplished through our Fatigue system. Anyone may attempt anything, though, based upon how they have designed their character, some will be better at certain tasks than others.
Fatigue provides the limiting factor that prevents any one character or archetype from running roughshod over any other. Players and GM's will be able to track their Fatigue on Fatigue tracking charts available in the book. Regardless of whether they swing a sword, wield a bow, cast magic, or sing, all characters of roughly equal point value are intrinsically evenly matched. Not in every way, of course. A blade master is still going to handily defeat a sorcerer in hand to hand combat, and vice versa in a magical duel, but overall power levels will remain equitable.
Tactical portions of game play are conducted on a hex grid. In the EPIC RAGE system, a single hex on a tactical map represents the area a human sized character can reach while standing at its center with a one handed weapon. This definition leaves the precise measurement of a hex open to the players' frames of reference; whether they use feet or meters or cubits. Blank hex grids and the rules governing their use are provided in the rule book, and fully illustrated hex maps will be included in our world settings and adventure modules.
This ease of use and inherent utility runs throughout the system. NPC's, monsters, villains, even towns, kingdoms, geography, and entire game worlds are simple and easy to develop on the fly in a similar five to ten minute time frame as character generation. Several years have been spent creating the rules to accommodate such seamless customization of nearly every aspect of the gaming experience. Our EPIC RAGE game has been playtested by many different groups ranging from professional play testers to casual gamers to players wholly unfamiliar with rpg's. While each session has produced valuable feedback that has guided EPIC RAGE to its current form through countless revisions, at every turn it has received rave reviews by those participating.
We've added the first four sections of character generation below in the FAQ. Check it out!
Why do we need funding? We have seen many independently published games come and go over the years. Sometimes they had a conceptual flaw such as being overly complex or too narrow in focus. Sometimes they suffered from editing or layout issues. But the single greatest killer of a new RPG is lackluster art. We have a fully functional product that has been proofed and re-proofed dozens of times, and an Art Director skilled in layouts and artistic design. What we don't have is the requisite volume of interior art, and that costs money.
We are also requesting the funds to help defray the costs of the initial print run and marketing. Everyone who shops at Sam's Club knows it's cheaper to buy in bulk. The more we order, the cheaper it is and the more stretch goal goodies we can dole out to you!
What else does VGS have planned? Aside from the products listed in our stretch goals, we have several RPGs planned based on the RAGE system for different genres: Sci-fi, Gothic horror, Steam Punk, and more. We also have a CCG in early design stage as well as plans for entirely new, from-the-ground-up RPG systems. In short, we plan to be around for a long, long time!
As we stated in our video, we intend to expand our operation to at least fifteen people in the next two years, and with a strong enough wind at our backs there's no reason to stop there.
All our donors will receive recognition on our Acknowledgements page in the EPIC RAGE rule book regardless of contribution level.

Risks and challenges
Risks and Challenges.
While we have all of our printers and suppliers primed on standby with minimal turnaround on all our products and swag, there is a wild card. In conjunction with the crowdfunding campaign, we have issued a call for art submissions. While we believe we have provided ample time between our funding (without which there is no product, sadly) and our scheduled release date, we are going to be dealing with commissioned artists since we have no dedicated staff artists at present. This could work to our advantage, giving us plenty of quality pieces in short order. It could also cause a few delays if the art trickles in more slowly than we anticipate. Rest assured, we will do everything in our power to ensure timely delivery of perks and stretch goal rewards.
In the unlikely event our release date is missed due to this potential snag, we will be shipping perk packets with extra bonus goodies based on our overall level of funding. Since the only thing that would be impacted by a delay in artwork is the game book itself, these post release date bonuses will be for book-level contributors ($35 and up.)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
