A space-themed shooter with a side of humor.
About the game
Genre: shooter, action, arcade
Estimated release: March 2013
Platform: Iphone, Ipad
Attack of the Killer Space Things! is a brand new sci-fi shooter with the look and feel of an old-school video game.
As the title suggests, the game has a space horror theme but what you actually get is less horror and more humor. The hero, Hugh Jarms is essentially a stereotype of an action hero. He has some really huge arms and also he has sunglasses that he wears in space. The space things are loosely inspired by the aliens from the well-known sci-fi movie, Alien. They may look cute in this game, but don’t be fooled because they are deadly!
Space things has a story that will largely be told with some quick cutscenes. The focus of the game, however, is the gameplay. The gameplay is fast paced - theres lots of action and lots of guns.
You'll find at least 7 weapons in the game including classics like a shotgun, flamethrower, assault rifle and uzi. Hugh can also pick up bombs which you can use them by tapping the center of the screen. The game has a long list of enemies, boss battles, powerups, and more!
retro 8-bit graphics!
7+ different weapons
A long time ago, video game development was very different. Most projects involved a small group of people working with a relatively small budget - and because of that, developers were more willing to take risks and try new things. Nowadays, video games are often multi-million dollar endeavors that involved a staff of hundreds of people and take years to develop.
Personally, I miss the good old days when video games were a more personal art form, and I know I'm not alone. I know that there are gamers out there just like me who really don't care a lot about fancy graphics and just want to play something fun and entertaining - and that's really the idea behind this game. I want to bring gamers back to the golden age of gaming where it was all about simple, fun games. At least, that's the idea!
About the team
My name is Adam Hale - I am currently the only developer working on Attack of the Killer Space Things! Thats right, everything you see in the video was created by one person, me! I have been creating visual artwork for video games since 2003 and have worked on a total of 7 shipped titles for Wii, PS2, PSP, Iphone and PC. My work has included character design, character art, animation, level art, UI, and particle effects. I began developing Attack of the Killer Space Things! less than a year ago using Gamesalad, which is a powerful tool that enables non-programmers (like myself) to create professional mobile apps using a visual drag-and-drop system. For more information, please visit Gamesalad.com. There are no programmers involved in this project, yet! A portion of the money generated from this campaign will go towards hiring a programmer to help make this game the best that it can be.
The game is approximately 60% complete, but I need your help to finish this project! The money generated from this site will be going towards purchasing audio for the game as well as towards advertising, development fees, and hiring a programmer. Without your support this game may never happen!

This being my first project as lead designer, the biggest challenge for me will be to keep the game fun and engaging from beginning to end. My plan is to borrow heavily from other successful games, and try to keep it simple. Testers will play a big role in the development of the game, as well as my trusted friends, many of whom are professional game developers. Ultimately though, I am my own biggest critic, and I am determined to create a AAA quality title even if it kills me!
