Love Mythos: Sanctuary Island is an all-inclusive, one of a kind Visual Novel and Puzzle game for PC, Mac, and Linux. This venture features a balance of immersive story, as well as a mini game to progress both relationships and dialogue. But Love Mythos isn’t just pure titillation (not that there’s anything wrong with that, amirite?). As the main character, you can help guide your fellow wounded companions through rehabilitation, or let them slip into bitterness and revenge. Your decisions, your words, your actions shape the entire world and who these fey will come to be.
This is an indie game created from the love of a very small team. Our goal is to create a dynamic, immersive experience with story that leaves you wanting more, and enough game play to provide an engaging challenge. We hope to bring a new type of sexy to the table, one that’s frank, honest and well-written. A type of sexy where fetishes aren’t shamed or vilified, and there’s a little som’something for everyone. We believe there’s a real demand out there for erotica with substance, which is exactly what Love Mythos will provide.
You, an independent selkie just enjoying life in the Ocean, have been captured by the strange creatures called humans. Kept in darkness without your precious skin, you’re sure it’s the end when suddenly a team of rescuers sweep in and take you away.
They whisk you off to a hidden island; but not just any island. You find yourself at a rehabilitation center for fey who have been hurt by humans. And while you are not grievously wounded, the rescuers couldn’t recover your skin. You are now stranded on land, with no way to ever get home.
From there you meet the inhabitants of the island, and can choose to interact with them, or not. There is a large degree of freedom in this game for you to shape the world how you want. You can pursue a character’s entire story line, unlock an ending, then go back and play another. Or you can take turns engaging multiple characters, learning about their past and what brought them to Sanctuary Island. The world is your oyster.
This game is centered around the story and unlocking multiple endings. What you choose to say, or choose not to say, has more effect than you know. However, the gameplay is just as important. Losing, winning, and getting a high score in the puzzle game can all influence your experience in different ways.
· Choose how you want your main character to be represented, with Male Pronouns, Female Pronouns, or They/Them!
· 8 love interests to choose from, 4 female and 4 male, hailing from all over the world. Craving a beefcake bara daddy? Check. Looking for a total nerd with killer hair? Check. Whatever your flavor, you’ll find something you like here.
· 25+ in-game locations that you can explore with the other inhabitants of the island. Swim in the ocean with a mermaid, run through a meadow with a centaur, go to physical therapy with a minotaur. There are even special, hidden locations unlocked through certain endings.
· Interact with mythological creatures from all over the world, ranging from Alkonosts to Manticores!
· 19+ unlockable endings, with drastically different outcomes. You can save characters, or send them teetering over the edge.
· Friendship options in case doing the down and dirty isn’t your scene. Aro and Ace are welcome in our party.
· A bubble-shooter game, with consequences to characters and the storylines you’ve unlocked so far.
· A catchy, mood-driven sound track guaranteed to pull you in and immerse you in the world of Love Mythos.
Love Mythos came into being approximately two years ago, and has been in serious production for seven months. So far, we have scripting, character designs, backgrounds, the visual novel engine, and the core of the mini-game experience.
Love Mythos is a passion project of an incredibly dedicated group of individuals, being produced at our own expense. A successful campaign would allow us to focus on putting out a great product, without having to worry about the lights being shut off.

Of course we will be pleased as punch (you know, if you’re into that) just to fully fund this project, but these goals are in case you guys take us above and beyond our original scope. After all, anything’s possible with enough pr0n!

Currently our games NSFW scenes focus more on the Love Interest rather than the plumbing of the player character. However, should this goal be hit, there will be three completely different sex scenes written for each pronoun set in the game.
Who needs more porn? YOU DO! Should we reach this stretch goal, we will include additional splash art for the NSFW scenes for every love interest.
Want to find out more about your waifu or husbando? Hitting this stretch goal will provide extra chapters for each love interest, involving a flashback from their life before the island.
As much fun as it is getting them naked, it’s also fun to dress the love interests up. Should we hit this stretch goal, each character will get custom accessories and looks as prizes for obtaining high scores in the mini game.
Although we dearly love our main cast of characters, we realize that just 8 choices may not be enough to scratch everyone’s itch. Should we hit this stretch goal, all backers will be able to vote for a secret, unlockable character to be added to the game. This new character will be fully fledged, with the same amount of chapters as the original cast. The choices are:
Skol Z’kiy: This slime girl heralds from the very cold wastes of Russia. She’s sweet, shy, and a bit slippery.
Wapenzi: This sentient, intelligent gorilla is as handsome as he is charming. The scholarly fey was brought to the island after being shot by the humans he trusted and lived with.

Tagata Tino’ese: A lovely lady cyclops heralding from the Polynesian belt. She is the epitome of a gentle giant, although she carries two massive clubs. One in her hand, and the other between her legs.
Well you did it. If you’re going to have options, you want all of them, gosh darn it. All backers will vote to unlock a 2nd hidden character from the list above.
You did it...EVEN MORE. You proved that you really can have it all. All three of the previously listed hidden characters will be fully realized and added to the game, bringing the total up to eleven possible love interests and twenty-five different endings.
Wow, you like us. You really like us! This stretch goal will include character specific mini games for each love interest. That’s 11 different games inside of a game. That’s some inception-level shenanigans.
Of course, we don’t expect you to throw your money at us for no reason. (I mean, we wouldn’t object to it, if you really wanted to.) Here are the many exciting rewards for helping us reach our goal.

This level is for someone who’s always wanted to play a game with a certain character, but never got the chance to. This includes all previous rewards plus a Custom Love Interest. You pick the species, the characteristics, the personality, the name, everything! Of course, our writer will work with you to bring your love interest from just an idea a fully realized character that fits into the Love Mythos universe, but the world is your oyster. Heck… you could even create an oyster. We’re limiting this to two awesome people, as this would bring the game to 12 possible love interests and 27 different endings.
This is it, the pinnacle of possible participation. We are only opening this to one backer, and it is for a custom Main Player Character to be added to the game, with full art specific to their physical and personal description. You could literally be in this game. Of course, all previous rewards are also included.
Writer and Creator:
Hailing from Hawaii, Alanaleilani is a Hapa Haole that knows a thing or two about living on an island -granted, her neighborhood was lacking in both Minotaurs and Harpies.
Housing a passion for reading from a young age, that thirst quickly turned to writing. Starting with short stories and quickly progressing to full length novels, she continued to practice her craft until one of her scripts was picked up by a Visual Novel company. After producing three different games with them, she realized she had an idea of her own she wanted to pursue, one that featured people of all races and body types, one with real personalities instead of cardboard cut outs and archetypes. Something that reminded her a bit of home, with a bit more fantasy thrown in there.
Alanaleilani hopes you enjoy the adventure Love Mythos takes you on, as it’s certainly one from her heart.
Muelsby was introduced to programming as a Catholic schoolboy in the 90s, where he made Choose Your Own Adventure games in Basic. Little did the nuns know that he would grow up to make video games where you can totally get it on with a minotaur.
When Muelsby is not creating bugs out of thin air for Love Mythos: Sanctuary Island like some sort of reverse-exterminator, he works for a tech company in NYC where he helps companies leverage cutting-edge software to make lots of money (that he'll never get a cut of).
When he heard that Alanaleilani was assembling a team to make an adult VN full of heart, with a fresh, inclusive approach to sex and relationships, Muelsby knew that he wanted to write the code to help bring that world to life. He's grateful and excited to be involved with a project like this, and hopes that the player will have as much fun exploring the story as the Squid Sin Squad had putting it all together.
Muelsby is having fun making the game right now, but that could definitely change when he has to QA and fix bugs in the final build. Just wait.
His favorite character is Semira, and he dreams that she'll one day roll her eyes at him in disappointment. Until then, he invites everyone else to roll their eyes at him in her stead.
Character, Background, and UI Artist:
Meet our Artist, a talent with an eye for backgrounds and mythological creature anatomy! Sandy Hong grew up in Northern Virginia, and quickly fell in love with animation. Whether it was captivating movies on the big screen, or goofy episodes on her television, Sandy ate it up. When told she needed to grow up, she did, and made her way to the Big Apple in 2005 to pursue her dream of studying animation at the School of Visual Arts. Probably not what the original speaker intended.
After graduating in 2009, (and some solid convincing herself that her degree was not a waste), Sandy ended up at her dream job at Nickelodeon as a background designer. There she excelled and found her true talents in composition, creating breathtaking backdrops, and even won an audience choice award in a Film Race. With plenty of growth under her belt, Sandy left her Nickelodeon family and decided to focus on her passion for video games. She is now contributing as a freelance game artist assisting various indie game studios.
After recently graduating from UC Davis with a B.S. in Evolution, Ecology, and Biodiversity, Steven decided to put his true passions to work, and joined the SquidSinSquad to create music for a unique and truly interesting addition to the Visual Novel genre. Steven has interests in most genres of music, and has been influenced by various artists and composers, including: Nujabes, Shoji Meguro, Takeharu Ishimoto, Yasunori Mitsuda and Nobuo Uematsu. Steven has incorporated his most keen interests into the sound and music of LoveMythos in the hopes of giving it a fun and inviting audio aesthetic that compliments the mood and cadence of the story. When he’s not writing “dulcet tones” for games, Steven is often lost in the dense haze of an anime and/or video game bender that can last anywhere from hours to the rest of his adult life.
Risks and challenges
As with all games, there are certain risks. Biting off more than we can chew is certainly one of them, as we are a small team, but we are determined to bring this game to fruition. Delays will be the biggest hurdle we have to face. Each of our team members works full time jobs outside of this game, and life often has unplanned surprises that like to jump out along the way. Ideally, this game will be released the summer of 2018. However, should the highest tiers of stretch goals be reached, that could add additional time and complications to the project.
In the event of any extensions, we are going to have both the beta, and a free to play demo prologue for our backers to keep everyone involved with the Love Mythos family.
Getting through steam Greenlight could also pose some hurdles. Should we not make it through that process, we will need to research other ways to distribute and publish the game to the public.
Should our kickstarter go unfunded, we will continue to find other ways to procure funds for our game. This might extend the deadline, and remove some features, but we are determined to bring Love Mythos to reality.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
