About this project
Our Funding Goal has been met! These minis WILL be a reality, and all Backers Will receive the minis they've pledged for as rewards! Now our goal is to make MORE cool minis for this set! Each Stretch Goal we meet will enable us to make a new monster, and pledges at the appropriate level will get that monster FOR FREE! All patrons will be able to up their pledge to add these new minis to their rewards, as well!
We've already unlocked the Googly Eye Monster Pin, The Tentacle Hulk, The set of 3 Phlemfs, The Energy Being, the set of 3 Grabbies, the set of 2 Wail Snails, the set of 1 Dire and 3 Tiny Spawn Rats, Kreela and the Shield Maiden, the Tenta-Muarte (with wall stand), LE Gelatinish Cube, Bendy Dungeon Walls, the Cthulhu Dice Bag, the Medium Tentacle, the Cthulhu Amulet, the Deep Eye, the Large Tentacle, the Terror Plant, the Tentacle Area-of-Effect Markers, and the Eye Monster Dice Bag!
NEW UPDATED REWARD LEVEL LISTS! Accurate as of 9:40 am this morning (eastern time). Check out Update #44 to see the list of everything you can get at the 'Sweet Spot' levels! Since that list was made, also add the Tentacle AoE Markers to the 'Get It All' and All the Little Guys' Pledge Reward lists!
This one is based off of a suggestion by one of our backers, Beagle! As a special thanks to everyone who helped me kick around ideas about what the Large Tentacle should look like, if we can unlock Said Large Tentacle by Midnight Wednesday, the model will also come with this cool Optional Custom Base, showing the tentacle rising up out of a trap door in the floor, with the rest of the monster close behind, straining and breaking the wooden frames as it struggles to get at the tasty PCs in the room! --GOAL ACHIEVED!!
The goal of this KickStarter is to raise funds for mold-making and production costs to add this pile of similarly-themed monster sculpts to my product line. These tentacled aberrations come straight from the darkest reaches of the Far Realms, and would be at home eating the PC's off of any D&D, Pathfinder, or Old School roleplaying table! Castings of the models themselves will be the rewards that backers can choose to receive for their assistance in helping me meet this goal.
Below, I will run down all the models in the set, as well as the pledge amount required to receive that model as a reward. All pledge amounts include shipping for your reward within the US. International backers are super welcome, but each model will also list an additional amount that you should add to your pledge to help me cover the increased cost of shipping your reward. You may also pledge to get multiple different models, or multiple copies of the same model as rewards. Simply total up the values of all the pieces you'd like to get (there is a handy table at the bottom that will help you ) and pledge that amount (when pledging, select the Reward choice for the largest donation amount that is among your selections, and then just edit the pledge number to reflect your total pledge). For International backers pledging to receive multiple pieces, only add the two largest extra shipping costs to your total, or just the single largest value if you are in Canada. At the conclusion of the KickStarter, assuming it is successful, I will email you with a survey, and then you give me the list of models you would like, adding up to your total pledge, and I will get them out the door to you!
We'll start small and work our way up. That makes the Floating Eye first: this tiny horror hovers around the dungeon, dragging its own severed optic nerves, and telepathically reporting all that it sees to its dark master. If threatened, it can attack with an eye beam, or psychically implant horrible visions into an enemy's mind. The Floating eye will be a one-piece model cast in lead-free pewter, and it can be yours for a pledge of $3, which includes shipping in the US. Or for a pledge of $5, you could choose to get a set of 3 identical Floating Eyes. International backers should add $1 to their pledge to offset shipping costs.
Next up is a set of 3 Peepers. These Eye Abberrant-kin younglings are precocious and inquisitive, wandering about the dungeon as they attempt to learn about their environment. Other dungeon dwellers dare not attack them, or even be mean to them, for fear of reprisal from their terrible parents. Of course, adventurers aren't always so smart... (btw, this is total bs I just made up--I just sculpted 'em 'cause they're cute. I have no idea how "Eye Abberrants" actually reproduce--talk about 'bumping uglies'!)The Peepers will each be a single piece casting in lead-free pewter, and will include a small (3/4") circular base and a clear plastic 'flight pole'. For a pledge of $6, you can choose any one Peeper of your choice, or for $12, you can get all three! International backers should add an additional $1 if pledging for just one, or $2 if pledging for all three.
The Wolf-In-Sheep's-Clothing is a rather silly monster I sculpted for a rather silly Easter adventure, but it fits the theme, and it's very Old School, so I threw it in here. The bunny on the stump is actually just a decoy appendage designed to draw in unwary predators or adventurers. The stump it's 'sitting on' is the actual monster, with a gaping, slathering maw, two grasping tentacles, and two darting eyestalks. The bulk of the model will be cast in resin on a 1" circular base, with the tentacles and eyestalks being cast in lead-free pewter and requiring assembly. The pledge cost for this reward is $10, with international orders adding $3 more to offset shipping costs.
The Lensman is a minion monster associated with Eye Abberants. It's face, composed of one huge leering eye and a gaping maw, is centered on its torso, Arnim Zola -style, while a writhing tentacle sprouts from where it's head should be. It favors double-bladed pole arms as weapons, and this one wields a two-headed axe in its hand and tentacle. The model will be a single piece cast in lead-free pewter, and will include a 1" circular slotta base. The pledge amount to receive the Lensman model is $11, and international backers should add $3 for shipping. Of course, as minion monsters, you may want more of them, so you can get a set of 3 for $30, for which international orders should add $5 for shipping.
The Guath is a smaller cousin of the Eye Abberrant with a 5-foot diameter body, but is equally frightening to mid-level adventuring parties. It can fire magical beams from each of its six eyestalks, and the 4 smaller tentacles on its bottom portion can be used to manipulate objects or weapons, or even grab an unlucky adventurer and haul him in for a devastating bite. The Guath model will be cast in lead-free pewter, and will also include a 1" circular base and a clear plastic flight stand. The pledge amount for this reward is $15, and international orders should include an extra $3 for shipping charges.
Now we come to the first of the three really big monsters in the Kickstarter, the Alibeth Lord. This gigantic psionic three-eyed carp hovers over a Huge (3" square) base. The creature itself is over 5" long from nose to tail, measuring over 25 feet in game scale. The main body and base are resin, while the various fins and the four main tentacles are all cast in lead-free pewter. This gives the tentacles a bit of flexibility, so they can be bent into different poses. Get an alibeth model kit as a reward for a $50 pledge. International orders should add an extra $8 for shipping.
Here we have a fearsome Doomkiss Eye Abberrant! While the standard Eye Abberrant is more of a long-range artillery monster, the Doomkiss is an in-your-face (and eat-your-face) close combat specialist. The 10-foot (2") diameter body hovers (on a clear flight rod) over a Large-sized base (2"), while each of the 10 30-foot tentacles ends in a deadly barbed bone hook --and an even deadlier razor-toothed mouth! This model comes in many pieces and needs assembly: the resin body, 10 resin tentacles, 10 lead-free pewter tentacle tips and mouths, and the resin base and clear acrylic flight post. The pledge cost to get the Doomkiss model as a reward is $60, and international backers should add $10 to the pledge for shipping.
Finally, we have the Big Mother of this project, the DeepMother! This hideous Far Realms horror literally gives birth to other monstrous aberrations as you fight it, 'spawning' them off of its own fleshy mass, or 'horking' them out of its three alligator-like mouths. It's 15' (3") diameter body is festooned with eyes, including 4 that are protruding on little tentacles. Three of its six main tentacles end in the afore-mentioned 'gator-like mouths, while the other three coil to termination, and are capable of holding weapons (there is actually a little hole through the final coil, which you can insert weapon hilts into). The DeepMother 'stands' on its own tentacles over a Huge (3") base, but it's extra-long tentacles reach up and out, making the model almost 7" across at it' widest dimension. This is a resin-and-metal model kit; the base, body, and six large tentacles are all cast in resin, while the four eyestalks, the alligator mouths, and the tips of the other three tentacles are all cast in lead-free pewter. The pledge amount to get the mighty DeepMother as a reward is $90, and international backers should add $10 for shipping charges.TABLE OF MINIATURES REWARDS
The following table shows the base amount to pledge for each miniature offered in this project to receive it as a reward. You can use this table to choose your pledge rewards a 'la carte. Simply use the pledge amount column for each miniature you'd like (add the International Shipping amount if you live outside the US, only for the two most expensive-shipping items--or the single most, if you live in Canada), add up all the values (and you can choose to get multiple copies of the same mini), and pledge that amount. Make sure you record your choices, and then just email me the list when I contact you after the conclusion of the Kickstarter.
Each model has an International Shipping Amount associated with it. If you are pledging to receive just one copy of one model, then simply add that amount to your pledge to cover the cost of international shipping (all U.S. shipping is free). However, if you want multiple different models, or copies of the same model, then please add together the highest two International Shipping Amounts to get the total you should add to cover shipping charges. For example, if you would like to receive a Guath (Pledge amount: $15, International Shipping Amount: $3), Two Alibeths (Pledge Amount: $50 each, International Shipping Amount: $8 each), and a set of 3 Lensmen (Pledge amount $30, International Shipping Amount: $5), then just add together the two highest numbers (The alibeths, at $8 each), to get $16 as the amount to add to the pledge total to cover shipping. In this case, the pledge total would be ($15+$50+$50+$30) $145, and adding the $16 for shipping would make the total number you should pledge to get these rewards and have them shipped internationally $161.
A special note for Canada: You guys are right next door, and it costs significantly less to ship to you than it does to the rest of the world (though still more than inside the U.S.). For you guys, calculate your shipping amount by taking only the highest International Shipping Amount from all your reward selections. The reward selection in the above example would only require $8 extra for your shipping.
One Further Exception: The top two rewards, All the Big Guys and Get It All, already have the maximum amount required for international shipping listed. If you choose either of these rewards, and then want to add extra figures to them, you do not need to add anything further for the shipping beyond what is listed.
All the models in this Kickstarter project have already been sculpted. If we are successful in funding, then moldmaking will commence immediately upon the Kickstarter's conclusion. The all-metal figures will be finished fastest, and if your reward contains only metal models, you can expect delivery within 2-3 weeks of the end date. That means pieces in the mail; delivery time from then to your doorstep depends on the post office. Should be a few more days in the US, or a week to 10 days abroad. I will send you an email to let you know when your rewards ship. The resin pieces will take a bit longer, both because the molds are more complicated, and because the casting process is more labor-intensive. In all likelihood, the resin pieces will 'trickle' in rather than all show up at once. I will ship rewards with resin castings in the order in which the pledges were received. The time it takes from the End Date until shipping will depend on how many pledges the Kickstarter received, and when in the life of the Kickstarter you placed your pledge. To be safe I will list it as 3 months from the end date of the Kickstarter, though I don't think it will take that long. I will do my best to keep all backers informed of the production and shipping process as it proceeds, so that you know when to expect your models.
Well, we've been going for about 3 days now, and we're already nearing our goal! I think it's time to Get Stretchy With It! (I know, ugh, but it's what I came up with.)
Our first Stretch Goal Reward is an uber-cute Googley Eye Monster pin! It makes an excellent tie-tack, lapel pin, or even earring. It measures only 3/4" of an inch from top to bottom, and is a great little memento and conversation starter that you can wear to show that you helped make all these tentacle-y monsters a reality! And best of all, if we meet the goal, it's FREE to everyone who pledged $50 or more! And as a secondary Stretch Goal, if this Kickstarter goes up above $10,000, It'll be FREE to everyone who pledged $3 or more (anyone I have to mail a reward to)! -KICKER GOAL ACHIEVED!
Here's some close-ups of the pin and a pic of one in my wife's ear. Be sure to specify in your Ending Survey whether you would like your Googley Eye Monster as a Pin or an Earring (they have different kind of clasps and possibly a different pin/post...still looking at options).
This guy makes a great first Stretch Goal, mainly because I had him almost done already! I just needed to design a new back plate because the previous design could occasionally fall apart. It's fixed now, so if we meet the first Stretch Goal of $5,000, I'm making a production mold and throwing them in boxes with your orders! Also note, they will be completely finished and ready to wear, just like the pictures, not a model that requires painting/assembly like the gaming figures.(Although, if someone does paint one up, I'd love to see pics!)
This hulking abomination was once a man, but a terrible disease of the some Far realm has begun a process of horrible mutation. Now, he lives only to feed, and the more adventurers he eats, the further the mutation progresses. Added as a Free Reward to all 'Get It All' and 'All the Big Guys' Pledges, or add to your rewards as a $15.00 option.
This small floating monster can be mildly irritating if threatened; completely harmless if flipped upside down. Kicker Goal Achieved!! Three Phlemfs (a Float of Phlemfs) added as a Free Reward to "Get It All" and "All the Little Guys" pledges, or add three to your rewards as a $6.00 option.
These strange extra-dimensional balls of energy can come from either the Positive Material or the Negative Material Plane. Either way, they are deadly opponents, releasing bursts of energy and slaying living creatures with the touch of their tentacles. And definitely don't bring the two opposites together! BOOM! Added as a Free Reward to "Get It All" and "All the Little Guys" pledges, or add to your rewards as a $6.00 option.
This nimble little rubbery monster tries to jump up and grab its victims, and then starts to chow down. It's hide makes it virtually immune bludgeoning damage, but it explodes violently if pierced. Kicker Goal Achieved!! Three Grabbies added as a Free Reward to "Get It All" and "All the Little Guys" pledges, or add three to your rewards as a $6.00 option.
This 10' long armored slug is armed with an array of mace-like growths at the ends of several flailing tentacles. Since we met the Super-Awesome Stretch Goal Kicker on this one, 2 Wail Snails (with different shells) are added as a Free Reward to "Get It All" and "All the Big Guys" pledges, or add a set of two to your rewards as a $15.00 option.
The strange transmutative disease that creates Tentacle Hulks doesn't just affect humanoids. These formerly mostly harmless rats can really cause problems now!!This stretch goal is for 1 Dire Spawn Rat, and 1 Tiny Spawn Rat, added Free to to all rewards at a rate of 1 dire and 3 Tiny per $100 or fraction therof. That's right, even a $3 pledge (the smallest reward I ship to) will get 1 and 3 of these little guys if we make this goal! Why? because just as even the smallest creature can be deadly, so also can even the smallest pledge make a difference, and I want to show that I appreciate every single pledge we get!!
You may also add extra Dire Spawn Rats to your Rewards for $4 apiece, and extra Tiny Spawn Rats for $1 for 3.
It has been suggested (quite a lot, lately) that I should throw some of my already published product into the Goal Pool. Kreela in specific gets mentioned a lot...so, to quote Kiss: "You Wanted The Best, You Got The Best!" Okay, well, that may be a tad immodest, but still, Kreela and Shield Maiden are definitely decked out to fight tentacle monsters and NOT become Hentai victims! As we have now met this goal, both warrior girls will be added FREE to all 'Get It All' and 'All the Little Guys' pledges, or add both minis to your Rewards for $6, or either for $3. Special thanks go out to Mad Tinker Gnome and others for the suggestion!
Also known as "The Tentacles of Death", this strange aberration can cling to walls with its many small tentacles, and attacks with 2 larger appendages; one for constricting a foe, and the other with a deadly venomous stinger. Added as a Free Reward to "Get It All" and "All the Little Guys" pledges, or add to your rewards as a $12.00 option. We met the Super-Awesome Stretch Goal Kicker, so each Reward will also include a separate 'wall-section' stand, that the Tenta-Muerte's base will slide into, allowing it to be represented as clinging to a wall.
Okay, it should be noted that I really prefer the 'If we unlock this goal, everyone at a pledge level gets this mini for free' type of arrangement, but I'm afraid that is just not practical here (each cube is hand-painted and hand-crafted--lots of work) so this should be our only 'pledge to unlock the right to purchase' Stretch Goal. My 'Gelatinish' Cube has been around for a while now, but I'm making this Kickstarter version extra special! First, the amount to Add the Cube to your Rewards is only $25 (they normally sell for $40). And second, the Cube here is LIMITED EDITION, with a variant that will be only available from this Kickstarter.
It's kind of hard to see without being right up on the piece, but there is a tiny little half-dissolved rat in the fron left corner, that noticed the oncoming Cube just a little too late. Well, for this Kickstarter only, I am going to convert that tiny rat into a Spawn Rat!
Since most monsters with Tentacle and Eyeballs live in the dungeon, a box of Dark-Platypus BENDY DUNGEON WALLS will allow you to construct the perfect environment for your new monsters to destroy your pcs! This fantastic gaming accessory lets you build 3d dungeons fast--while you play!! One box comes with 50 inter-connectable 1" wall pieces and 5 doors, and will be added as a FREE REWARD to all 'Get It All' and 'All the Big Guys' pledges, or you may add boxes to your Rewards for $10 each (a phenomenal deal only for patrons of this Kickstarter--normal cost is $25 each)!
The only thing better than an awesome minion monster is an awesome minion monster with multiple poses. I will create two different poses for the Lensman monster, making three poses in all. We met the Super-Awesome Stretch Goal Kicker on this one, so what you get just got a little more complicated:
1. Everyone who pledged at the 'Lensman' level will instead get all 3 figures!
2. Everyone who pledged at the 'Set of Lensman' level will instead get 2 of each figure (6 Lensmen total)!
3. Everyone who pledged at the 'Get it All' or 'All the Little Guys' level will also get 2 of each figure (6 Lensmen total)!
4. The price for additional Lensmen (your choice of poses) will drop from $11 each to $4 each!
Here's another product I already make added to our Stretch Goals by Request! This cool little dice bag measures 4-1/2" x 5-1/2" approximately, and is great for holding about 50-60 of your very best dice! Stylish black, with a full-color rendering of everyone's favorite Great Old One on the front and back. Thisis added as a FREE REWARD to all 'Get It All' and 'All the Little Guys' pledges, and anyone can add one to their rewards as a $5.00 option (normally $8).
Some unknown terror dwells far underground or underwater, but all that protrudes to attack the PC's is a number of disembodied tentacles, rising up from the deep. Added as a Free Reward to "Get It All" and "All the Little Guys" pledges, or add to your rewards as an $8.00 option. We also met the Kicker goal here, so after your first tentacle (even if you get one free at your pledge level), extra tentacles are just $2 each!
This pewter amulet measures over 3" across, comes beautifully inked and buffed, and attached to an adustable neckband, so it is just perfect for anyone to wear to that secret ceremony intended to raise the mighty Cthulhu from his slumber. And when that happens, then by the dark covenant that was made, if you are wearing this Amulet and Cthulhu comes upon you: He won't eat you LAST...He won't eat you LESS, but he just may SMILE as he eats you, and won't that be worth it?
This is another of the products already available on my website that I thought would make an excellent Reward. As we have now made this Stretch Goal, all the 'Get It All' and 'All the Big Guys' pledges will get one FREE, and any patron may add one to your Rewards as a $20 option (normal cost is $35).
The most terrifying horror under the ocean's surface, the dreaded Deep-Eye is a variation of Eye Abberant that comes armed with huge deadly pincers. Added as a Free Reward to "Get It All" and "All the Big Guys" pledges, or add to your rewards as a $55.00 option.
Some unknown terror dwells far underground or underwater, but all that protrudes to attack the PC's is a number of disembodied tentacles, rising up from the deep. Added as a Free Reward to "Get It All" and "All the Big Guys" pledges, or add to your rewards as an $14.00 option. As you can see above, we met the Super-Awesome Kicker Goal on this one, too, so each Large Tentacle will also come with a custom 'Thing in The Basement' large base, which the tentacle may be temporarily or permanantly mounted onto.
This huge plant monster uses large whipping tentacles to stuff victims into its oversized maw. Added as a Free Reward to "Get It All" and "All the Big Guys" pledges, or add to your rewards as an $45.00 option.
Great for marking out zones for spell effects or areas inhabited by writhing tentacles, this set comes with 4 'corner' tentacle pieces and 4 'straight' tentacle pieces, allowing you to indicate a variety of zone shapes or affected areas. They are free-standing, but also come pre-magnetized, so they stick in place on a Dark-Platypus Studio's Magna-Map (available separately). Added as a Free Reward to "Get It All" and "All the Little Guys" pledges, or add to your rewards as an $15.00 option.
Another bit of a non-sequitur reward, but one that is filled with Awesome--and can be filled with dice! This is a full-color drawstring dice bag, with the image of an Eye Abberant totally covering its surface. When filled with dice, it makes your very own Eye Abberant! Added as a Free Reward to "Get It All", "All the Little Guys" and "All the Big Guys" pledges, or add to your rewards as an $9.00 option.
Here's a bigger picture of the concept art; this isn't the actual finished look for sure, just something I whipped up to illustrate the idea!
Some unknown terror dwells far underground or underwater, but all that protrudes to attack the PC's is a number of disembodied tentacles, rising up from the deep. Added as a Free Reward to "Get It All" and "All the Big Guys" pledges, or add to your rewards as an $22.00 option.
This Gargantuan (4"base) mutated frog monster has both an eyestalk and 4 giant tentacles in place of its front legs, making it an excellent fit for a lofty Stretch Goal for this Kickstarter. Added as a Free Reward to "Get It All" and "All the Big Guys" pledges, or add to your rewards as an $120.00 option.
