New Shipping Estimates and Explanations

 Greetings heroes,

Many have asked for some more detailed shipping costs, so we’ve put together this table at the end of the update which should help. Please remember these are estimates and are subject to change. Here are the estimated costs for:

  • Ymir
  • Dionysus
  • 1.5 Upgrade Pack
  • The 45$ All New Expansions 2018 pledge. Remember with this one, if you have a base pledge from the 1st campaign, you will receive the 1.5 upgrade pack for free. If you don’t have the 1.5 pack included, the shipping will be less for shipping this pledge.

Because the latest pledge levels, "The 4 Big Expansions" and "All Except Core and Pandora Pledge" were added after the beginning of the campaign, we won’t be able to give you estimates before the end of the campaign. We will, however, provide this information before the launch of the pledge manager. Unfortunately, it takes time even to get these estimates.

Also, we’ve heard your concerns on shipping rates being too high. And believe we should clarify a few points:

  • We do not earn money with shipping costs. We only charge the cost of the delivery service and related fees.
  • We try to provide as accurate information as possible to the different hubs so they can send us precise quotes. If necessary, we work with them on these quotes to try and lower the prices, but we don’t want to reduce the quality of the delivery service. You spend a lot of money to buy / support our games and we’re working to deliver the games in mint condition. With this in mind, it would be counterproductive to try to reduce the cost of shipping by neglecting the quality of delivery services. Shipping rates cover a global service and not only the amount invoiced by the carrier. It includes:The preparation and protection of your order, the packing material, sending tracking numbers, insurance, support management in case of problems, the carrier
Why was the shipping cheaper during the first campaign?
  • We were wrong with estimates and therefore, we underestimated the cost of sending certain parcels. Simply put, we cannot keep the rates the same as in the first campaign.
Why are these prices more expensive than I’ve seen for other similar projects?

  • Other publishers choose to trim their margins to reduce the amount of shipping. We have chosen to concentrate our efforts on the best quality / quantity / price ratio of the games and components we offer.
Why don’t I have ‘friendly shipping’ in my country? Why is it so expensive to ship here?
  • We cannot manage hubs in all countries. For example, working with a Brazilian hub means significant fixed costs, which we can manage only when we receive in the ballpark of 250 Brazilian backers, but definitely not when we have fewer than 100 backers.
Our game ranges include multiple heavy, boxes that come in large sizes and are expensive to transport. In general, the weights of your packages are mainly what determine the cost of transport; however, when they have to be transported by air, it is the volume that takes precedence over the weight, resulting in significant increases to shipping costs (this is the volumetric weight).

For comparison, here are the 2 boxes included in the basic pledge (Basic box and Pandora Box) next to a box of Ticket to Ride.

  • Each of these boxes measures 16.9 x 12.2 x 4.92 inch and they weigh respectively 11.3 lbs and 8.2 lbs.
  • ShipNaked has planned a 22 x 14 x 10 inch carton to ship a basic pledge that contains an additional box for Atlas.
  • And most packages containing almost an All-in will have to be sent in 2 huge cartons.

We hope you find these explanations helpful.

Salutations Mortels!

  • Ymir
  • Dionysos
  • Pack d’upgrade 1.5
  • Niveau de pledge « All New Expansions 2018 ».

I was finally responded to by support. We've got a plan to fix my unreceived pledge from 1.x and we're on the path to recovery. If I was to assess this externally, based on my interactions... I think they are massively overwhelmed and it took some back and forth. Here are some hints that I think helped:

Keep your description of the problem simple. (I didn't get X or I am unhappy with Y or Z is broken on receipt, etc.) SAY what is wrong right away. They don't got time to read the history every time.

Include the problem statement and every comment/decision in every discourse. There is probably not a single dedicated person and the pot gets taken care of once it boils it over. So don't make them go look anything up they don't have to.

Keep emailing. I eventually got someone via email.

sidenote: whitelist their domain! Every piece of email they sent me gets junk mailed. I can't turn it off, but not all systems allow whitelisting a whole domain either. In my case their mail server is flagged as a known spam source (complaints were filed by others that its harmed their servers rep.) That won't be fixed anytime soon. Its nothing they can control either outside of tanking their mail server and starting over as an unknown server (might get better results after its warmed up with known good receivers, don't send a ton of mails all at once. build a reputation, avoid spam. Separate your transactional email system from your marketing. but just a suggestion to consider.

@Christian, thanks for sharing your experience. It is rare to fall into the cracks like I have, but its telling how a company treats edges cases like this. They certainly can afford to ignore it. I'd just like a receipt of acknowledgement somewhere (I brought this up May 22nd when I became aware there was a v1.5! I was "Hey! I never got 1.0, what gives???" then I find out there was mention of it, looming, no links to follow, but I missed those in late 2017. Shame on me. But now I am here... and there is no support acknowledgement.) I followed the product very closely excited through early 2017 then life got a hold of me. I was even eager to do more, but I missed all that opportunity and I sit cast aside. That may not be how they feel about it, but it is sure how I feel after a month of no response. I'll keep nagging. Maybe if I had a game to play I'd be less nagging, but every 1.5 update, I'll be back till I know how they want to proceed. Because if this is what the need (constant nagging) I will abide, until they resolve and conclude our business. (Gamers can be such asses, and I am no exclusion.)

@Hunter Mayer I had a damaged mini & cards & also have not had a single person respond to my numerous emails over 3 months. I emailed FunAgain, I emailed Monoith, all thru the email addresses they designated. I then tried emailing the KS creator account.

All without even a single response! I know their job isn't easy, but this is rather inexcusable!

    7. Carl King on

So please confirm if I read right.

I have only ordered the $10 upgrade pack. Is it a further $20 to ship this to me in the UK?

For a packet containing dashboards that seems high for the weight

    8. Nicolas Corai on

@Kzerza - These estimates are in addition to the original ones (therefore the 2/2 mention). Shipping cost estimates for the all-in pledge can already be found at the bottom of the campaign page.

    9. portcullis on

I'm assuming these are US$ prices ... a little more than I expected by the time you do the conversion, but the figure I had in my head is only marginally different. Honestly, it's somewhat comforting to know that for once us Antipodean backers aren't getting screwed over.

@Kzerza: I can only proffer an estimate based on my experience of the first campaign. Shipping the Titan pledge with added DSB to Australia had a little change out of US$60.

Since I didn't receive an answer before, I'll ask again: will I receive upgrade pack if I changed KS account email between this and first campaign?

@Creator - How many brazilian backers do we have at the present moment?

Can you check your support emails and go check. I'd like to resolve receipt of the first KS that didn't get resolved. I fell through the cracks in the last KS BECAUSE of shipping costs and I never received a darn thing because of it. I've been chatting your official KS comms lines (the old campaign and now this one.) I'd love to report I've gotten a single reply (nothing in my spam folder yet, to be fair I wasn't looking back when you sent one impersonal message as a campaign update and that was the single point of failure for me not falling into the crack that I did.) Can we square up or have a plan BEFORE this campaign finishes? (backer 9,059) dm me for the rest of the info. I can't seem to get a damn response and I been trying since MAY 22nd this year, we last spoke Nov 2016 where you told me to wait for the pledge manager... I'd like to resolve this finally well before version 2 comes out.

If we can get 250 supporters, can these costs be reduced?
If so, I can advertise this on forums and social networks.
