What is ANTVR KIT?
- One of the BEST VR headsets to date
The headset is equipped with Full HD display (1920x1080/1.03 megapixel per eye). The sharp picture is projected onto your retina through the aspherical lens without distorting the image, allowing every pixel to remain in sharp focus.
While wearing the headset, you’re surrounded by the largest 4:3 standard screen in the world, which gives you a 100° diagonal field of view. This gives users an IMAX-like experience in the comfort of their own homes.
Thanks to the internal 9-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) for head rotation and movement tracking, the headset is ready to immerse you in a gaming experience like nothing you’ve experienced before.
With the headset, you can play any game or watch any movie – both 2D and 3D.
- Transformable Controller
Our unique transformable remote controller can be used as a gamepad, light saber, gun and joystick. You can use it to play FPS/TPS/FLY/ACT/RAC and many other kinds of games. Another build-in 9-axis IMU of the controller makes this possible.
We have integrated the remote controller, driver box and lithium battery into the gun. To be connected to a game or a video source, the user only needs one standard HDMI (AK STANDARD) cable. And the control signal will be output via 2.4GHz.
Supports all, but is not limited to, the mainstream platforms including PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Android devices. All you need is a standard HDMI signal to use the headset as your private huge screen.
By using our unique U2B (USB-2.4GHz and Bluetooth) module, users are able to control their gaming system and Android devices with ANTVR KIT. Users can also update the firmware inside the U2B module to make it compatible with any current or future games and platforms.
1.If the game itself has an option for stereoscopic 3D viewing, no problem. Just turn it on, throw on the ANTVR Kit and enjoy.
2. If the game is 3D without an option for stereoscopic 3D, it can be transformed to stereoscopic 3D through third-party software. You can use ANTVR Kit to experience it with stereoscopic 3D after it's converted.
3. If the game is only 2D, then wear the headset to play as a 2D game on a large virtual screen.
By utilizing the latest WHDI technology, we’ve been able to make the ANTVR KIT wireless with very low latency (less than 1 ms). This technology is very new, which makes it much more expensive to be utilized. However, for the hardcore users, we will still offer a number of AK WIRELESS that apply this technology, and the extra $200 is just for the BOM cost of the WHDI units.
For developersSDK: We'll distribute SDKs for software developers. It's very easy to handle the motion and gesture events output from the U2B module. Using the ANTVR KIT's special features (two IMUs), you can develop next generation games that set your hands free in the virtual world.
Open Source Hardware: The U2B module is open source, so developers can get the signals from the two IMUs (headset and controller) and can make the control command adapt to any device (ie. other gaming systems, UAV or robots). You can potentially even control your Avatar Robot while it's thousands of miles away from you!
ONE-Step Positional Tracking
With our built-in inertial positional tracking technology, when you take a step in any direction, the game character continues walking in that direction until you take a step back. It gives ballpark acceleration, which makes you feel like you’re really moving, it will lower the possibility of making you dizzy. If you crouch or jump, your character will do the same.
Design for EVERYBODY
Ergonomics is the top priority of our design. We have solicited the expertise of Red Dot award-winning designers to integrate our design into an ergonomically sound device.
Some of our main concerns were:
-Symmetry for left-handed, as well as right-handed players.
-Plenty of space for prescription glasses, so diopter and astigmatic problems won’t bother users in the virtual reality world. By wearing your own glasses, you will never develop eyestrain or any other long-term eyesight problems.
-The eyepieces can be adjusted to an IPD (inter-pupillary distance) of 60-75mm.
While wearing the headset, users are quickly engrossed and tend to lose their orientation. We created a visor-like window on the lower portion of the headset to allow users a quick view of the outside environment without having to remove the headset. You can also access the keyboard, controller or anything else by glancing through the window. Once the window is closed, you immediately have a totally immersive experience.
Put the entire kit into the bag and head off to the bus, train or plane. You can take your ANTVR KIT anywhere.
The bag also doubles as a tactical gaming vest that can hold backup batteries, the gun or your cellphone.
Reload the Battery
ANTVR KIT uses two 18650 batteries at the same time, and the two batteries last 8 hours. When you use the WHDI unit, they will last 3 hours.
The battery is specially designed like a shotgun bullet. If you have backup batteries, just enjoy the fun of reloading.
DIY your AK
With the eye patch sticker, you can create your own unique AK.

We have already completed the optics research and algorithm design. More than three working prototypes have been produced, which can be used with many pre-existing games and movies. Inside the latest prototype lies the 2nd edition PCBs.
The best-looking VR headset is always what we are pursuing. Although the design of this version has been finished, only with your recommendation and help can we improve the AK.
We need your support to complete the structural design that are being created by Red Dot award-winning designers at LKK, and to cover the initial costs of manufacturing a high-quality device. A larger volume of devices will ultimately reduce the overall cost to the consumer. As for the AK wireless, though the WHDI is still expensive, with your support we can make it affordable.

QIN Zheng: I’m an avid science fiction fan. In fact, during college, I produced several sci-fi stories and movies. Because of this passion, I’m always dreaming about making Holodeck a reality and having adventures in the virtual world. To this end, I invented a lot of VR devices, such as holographic glasses and several VR headsets. I created the first ANTVR KIT prototype all by myself last year.
Now ANTVR is just a small team, but fortunately, we have all the right people for a hardware startup. Together, we design every tiny component of the kit and try to present an outstanding product that can become part of every user's daily life. The ANTVR KIT is our first venture, but we will continue making more and better VR equipment that can hopefully change the way you live.
Our collaborator LKK is one of the top industrial design companies in China. They will also be in charge of the mold design and mass manufacturing. They can insure that the quality of every product reaches the highest level.

Risks and challenges
We’re trying to make this product compatible with every gaming system, but there’s a long way to go. If we fail to finish these tasks before the delivery deadline, we will have to ship you the product compatible with only several mainstream platforms. Then in the future, you could update the firmware inside the U2B module through our website to make your ANTVR KIT compatible with other platforms.
We want this product perfect, but the kit is really a big system. So there will necessarily be many mistakes and problems during the production process. If we have to delay delivery, we hope you can understand, because it’s really worth the wait.

The field of view describes the angular extent of the observable world that is seen. This can be measured horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
No. The WHDI lag is less than 1 millisecond, which is negligibly different from the cable kit. The wireless signal transmission is fast, far and reliable.
The ANTVR KIT uses two 18650 rechargeable batteries, which last 8 hours. When you use the WHDI unit, they last 3 hours.
Reading text on the device is very convenient and clear. We tried to use the ANTVR KIT rather than traditional displays for coding during development. It’s a great way to relieve the fatigue caused by long periods of work, surfing or gaming in front of a desk.
YES, it supports the HSBS stereoscopic 3D mode. For PC, almost all 3D games can be played with stereoscopic 3D. Some have stereoscopic 3D options, which the headset can use directly. But for those that don't, you can use some software to convert to stereoscopic 3D, and it will work with the headset. On PS or Xbox, some games also have stereoscopic 3D options.
We suggest Tridef or IZ3D.
[3D Experience] What if I don’t have any stereoscopic 3D converting software? Or the game I want to play is not convertible?
You can still use the ANTVR KIT to play any game on PC or consoles just like using a traditional 2D monitor. However, the headset provides you a viewing experience roughly equivalent to watching an IMAX screen, so it’s still better than the traditional way of viewing. In addition, the motion sensing controllers bring you the most modern way of gaming.
You can download HSBS 3D resources from the internet, and play them with an ordinary media player. Or if you have a Blu-ray player, you can enjoy Blu-ray 3D discs with our headset.
The ANTVR Kit receives video and audio signals through HDMI, which means any device supporting HDMI output can be connected to the headset. This includes PC, XBox, Playstation, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android devices, Blu-ray players, etc. If the device has no HDMI output, a HDMI adapter can make your headset work. But be careful, sometimes your HDMI adapter may not support the audio signal, in which case you may need an extra audio cable. Additionally, the controller supports Blue-tooth + USB protocol.
Any device with HDMI output (or a supporting HDMI adapter) works. Of course, the more powerful the system is, the better experience you will have.
Yes. The ANTVR KIT supports PC, XBox, Playstation, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android devices, etc. Any games that exist on these platforms can run on the kit WITHOUT ANY CHANGES.
Not only First Person Shooter (FPS) games, but many other game types can also be enjoyed with our transformable controller; which can be transformed into a gun, light saber, steering wheel or traditional controller…ALL-IN-ONE. You’ll love it!
Yes, we designed a 3.5mm standard headphone jack on the gun. You should make sure that your device output audio signal via HDMI is properly configured.
There’s no need for you to do that with the ANTVR KIT. Practically speaking, it’s difficult to adjust the optical level (AKA - the refractive degree or diopter) without an optometry professional’s help. Therefore, the ANTVR Kit allows users to wear their own glasses, which can provide clarity and comfort for their eyes.
Yes! From the very beginning design stages, we’ve allowed space between the eyes and the headset for glasses. Any normal-sized glasses fit well.
Sure! The gun was designed symmetrically. So it’s easy for user to customize the keys, which can be set perfectly for both left and right-handed users.
The headset DOES NOT emit or receive any radio waves. So don't worry!
[Health and Comfort] Can I see the environment outside (AKA – the real world) while wearing the ANTVR KIT?
We designed a “glance window” on the bottom of the ANTVR Kit headset. When it’s closed, you’re engrossed completely in the virtual reality. When it’s open, you can see outside. We added the window primarily for your safety, and also it will help to lower the chance of making the user dizzy. Furthermore, you can reach for anything (eg. the keyboard) without removing the headset.
It contains libraries, documentation and demos built by Unreal and Unity Engine. The SDK can be used on PC, smartphones or console platforms. And also, it will tell you how to modify the firmware inside the U2B module to make ANTVR KIT compatible with more devices.
[For Developers] Why are there two sets of sensors (IMUs) both in the headset and in the controller?
The headset and controller are actually two completely independent systems that work in concert. That’s why we call it a “Kit.” We provide the headset with the controller, so you won’t be bothered by different controllers that may have compatibility problems. It’s important to have two independent control signals for an ideal VR game - one from your head that controls the view and the one from your hand that controls the action. This makes the VR experience complete.
[Pledges and Product Logistics] If I choose a special gift (the dog-tag or the bookmark), how can I let you know what I want on it?
We will send an email to you for confirmation after the project is funded.
YES. You can do that through Kickstarter Support. Please visit the project page and click “Manage Your Pledge.” Enter a new amount in the pledge amount box. And note that you are not adding to your existing pledge; the amount you enter will be the total amount collected if the project is successfully funded.
[Pledges and Product Logistics] How much does shipping cost for the products we receive with our pledge?
Nothing! Shipping is free no matter where you are in the world.
Thanks to the 1,000 Hz ultra-sensitive sensor, the ANTVR Kit can track your motion accurately. The latency is mainly affected by the performance of whatever platform you use it on (ie- your PC/Xbox/PlayStation/Smartphone, etc.).
We use LCD now, but we're planning to use OLED for future products. OLED with low persistence is a good solution, but it's still too expensive now.
[Pledges and Product Logistics] If I get a standard KIT now, can I still get the unit later that makes it wireless?
We do not sell the wireless unit separately. If you’ve already made a pledge for the wired version and want to change it to the wireless, you can go to Kickstarter Support and click "Manage Your Pledge" to change the amount to the wireless tier.
Yes. It can be used for months, like a wireless mouse.
Reducing the latency and the persistence helps a little with the problem of dizziness. We use LCD now, but we're planning to use OLED for future products. OLED with low persistence is a good solution, but it's still too expensive now.
But we should note that there are several other factors that contribute to dizziness.
1. Coordination between your various sensory organs is necessary. People's sense of balance is affected by signals from the eyes, the inner ears and other parts of body. If only the motion on the screen changes without stimulus to the other body parts, then dizziness occurs. The ANTVR KIT has head tracking and positional controlling, which coordinates the various senses.
2. Interpupillary distance (IPD). The distance between the optical center of the two lenses should be compatible with human IPD. If it’s not, light enters your eyes the wrong way and makes you uncomfortable. The eyepieces in the ANTVR headset can be adjusted to a user's IPD.
3. Diopter and astigmatic problems also cause dizziness. If the optical degree in the device was adjustable, you wouldn’t likely get the right degree unless you had an optometrist. When you wear the wrong pair of glasses, it makes you dizzy; and even if you buy new glasses with the correct degree, it still takes at least several days to get used to them. The ANTVR KIT avoids potential optics problems by simply allowing room for users to wear their own glasses.
We have talked with Jan the founder of OMNI, and for sure we will make our product compatible with OMNI before you get it. It's a good way to experience VR with OMNI.
Because we use aspherical lenses and never waste any pixels in the full HD screen, it will be crystal clear in the headset. You won't ever notice a screen door effect any more.
