Let your co-workers know when you borrow shared gear, like the projector
And here's even more, the possibilities are endless!
Wouldn’t it be nice if there were, like, a button you could press, that would just do all these time-consuming tasks?
Well, you can stop dreaming now, for the goButton is exactly that!
goButton uses Amazon's Dash Button hardware
If you've used Amazon Dash Buttons to re-order paper towels or laundry detergent, at the press of a button, the idea behind the goButton is similar, but bigger!
You press a button to complete all kinds of different tasks, not just re-order product (although you can use it for that as well).
Our team has partnered with Amazon AWS to bring you the goButton, built using the same hardware as the popular Amazon Dash Button (specifically the AWS IoT Button).
Building new hardware from scratch is one of the riskiest aspects of any project, and we’re getting the jump on it by using Amazon’s proven Dash Button hardware.
goButton saves you time
In a goButton world if you need that printer fixed, there is no need to spend 15 minutes calling the printer guys to schedule a visit. Just press the goButton attached to your printer, and it sends a message requesting service. Its that simple!
Need to schedule a package pickup? Just press the goButton marked FedEx (or UPS, or DHL) and it’ll send in your request, complete with your address.
How does it work?
The goButton connects to the cloud over Wi-Fi, so first it needs to get connected to your Wi-Fi network. You do this using the goButton companion app, available for both iOS and Android.
Once the goButton is connected to your WiFi, it is completely independent. Unlike many Bluetooth-based smart buttons, you don’t need to have your smartphone nearby for the button to work.
Since goButtons use Wi-Fi, they are active for that entire location, whether home, workplace, hospital, or warehouse. They work irrespective of who presses the button, so the service is available to everyone. And don't worry, our cloud backend will allow you to place limits on actions!
Next, you use the goButton app to tell the cloud what to do when it’s pressed. For example, you may choose to send an SMS to your IT admin when the printer is having trouble. Enter her phone number, the message text and you’re done.
Of course, the best location to install this goButton would be right next to the printer, so peel off the adhesive backing and stick it by the projector!
goButton turning on a light ... because it can!
goButton will work with several popular services, making it useful to you in many different ways.
You decide which services are called, when your goButton is pressed. Setup is easy: just use the goButton app, or the web portal!
Do you have other services and tasks in mind? Tell us (comments section)! We want our Kickstarter community to guide goButton features.
Truly, goButton capabilities are limited only by your imagination!
Wi-Fi connected: Once goButton is connected to your Wi-Fi using a smartphone app, it's completely independent. You do not need a smartphone for it to work. Also, it only connects to Wi-Fi when the button is pressed, and does not use your connection continuously.
goButton is unlike Bluetooth-based smart buttons, which work through a specific individual's smartphone, and therefore are personal buttons. If s/he and their smartphone is not around, Bluetooth buttons cannot function.
Button modes: You can press, double-press, or long-press gobutton. Each of these can be set to trigger different actions. For example, single-press in the morning to send a "Deli open" message, and long-press to say "Deli closed"!
Status indicator: A big problem with most simple buttons is you don't know if it worked! And lets admit it, sometimes things don't work, and it's nice to at least know when that happens. goButton has a bright, clear LED. White when it's working, green when it has completed successfully, and red if the message didn't go through.
Label area: A good label is so important to user-experience! And a must if you have multiple goButtons! Our goButton has almost 2 inches of space for the label (which you can even customize), so you can clearly communicate its function to users.
Battery life: Around 2 years with typical daily use. goButton app will also notify you when the battery is running low.
OK, HELP and ALERT goButtons
While all goButtons are identical in what they do, it helps to use a goButton that is labeled appropriately for the task you have in mind.
We are offering goButtons with 3 standard labels: OK, HELP and ALERT
We decided on these labels based on surveys like this one.
Some examples, of where you can use these 3 goButtons:
HELP goButton Request printer service, request assistance at reception desk, request someone to call you
OK goButton Use it for general information, tell your co-workers equipment has been returned, or an “I-am-here” button.
ALERT goButton Use this button to communicate important information, such as scheduling package pickup, when you are low on stock and want to re-order, when borrowing shared equipment.
goButtons with CUSTOM LABELS!
We understand that these 3 labels don’t describe every use of the goButton, and you may have something specific in mind.
So you can order goButtons with a your choice of label!
NOTE At this time, we can only accept a word or two, so that it fits cleanly in the button, and looks great! All labels are on a blue background, no custom colors or artwork please!
Here are some examples of custom labels.
Remember the label is … just a label. You can configure any goButton to perform any of the available tasks.

The simple button has the power in it to free us from everyday mundane tasks, and give us a bit of our day back.
So we went looking for a great button. One that builds trust, through its reliability, getting the job done every time, press after press.
Of course we were beyond excited when Amazon made its AWS IoT Button available to us, with all the power of AWS behind it. All we need now are your ideas and imagination, to make the magic happen. (So tell us!)

Risks and challenges
Our company Visybl--a funded startup--makes hardware products for a living, so we know all too well how difficult it can be to develop a manufacturable product that delights our users.
Buttons are especially hard, since they need to look good, work well, and feel right. It can be many, many failed attempts before getting all three things right.
We have tried building smart buttons before, while they worked well, they failed to delight our users. Our earlier buttons were also based on Bluetooth Low Energy, and needed a smartphone in the vicinity. For the applications we had in mind, that was a non-starter.
We have always liked Amazon’s Dash Buttons, and have even "re-purposed" them with a lot of time and coding!. So as soon as Amazon made the Dash Button hardware available to their partners, we knew which way to go!
By using a proven, tested product as the foundation, we are able to take out the biggest risk of any hardware project: designing and developing the base hardware! That of course means we are dependent on Amazon keeping this product and their partner program active, but as partners go, we could hardly have done better!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
