Resources for fathers are hard to find, and as a guy, it's sometimes hard to ask for advice! This project is a web-based program that uses a community-based approach to answer dads' questions, publish dad-friendly articles, and connect fathers to helpful parenting resources all over the world.
Something like this is relatively inexpensive (costs are mostly in web support), but makes a huge difference in the lives of families. I already have a large number of professionals committed to helping this project work. We have received substantial interest from professionals that are:
- college professors
- everyday moms and dads
...all wanting to be a part of supporting fathers through this project!
This project is all about a committed community of parents and professionals helping fathers succeed through the sharing of information, personal anecdotes, research-backed practices, and the ability to directly ask personal questions from concerned fathers. Your support ensures that this website is here to stay.
Risks and challenges
The website is already up, and content contributors already contacted for future articles and resources. The site does require monthly upkeep, so if funds run out, the website will go down and resources will be lost to folks that otherwise could have used them. Also, without continually adding new content, the website can become stale and dated. To address these factors, income and information streams will need to be established.
For income, the goal is to add a site storefront on which applicable merchandise (t-shirts, bumper stickers, hats) can be sold. This will make the site self-sufficient.
A great deal of the information will be gathered by volunteers. The ensure top-quality information, subscriptions to academic journals will be maintained. This will keep information up-to-date and accurate.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
