What is snap!
snap! is an advertising breakthrough! Simply stated, snap! is a small, high-grade plastic case that slips on to your Square credit card reader and snaps into place. But, the real beauty is in the “canvas” that snap! gives you. The front face plate of snap! is blank and can be screenprinted with any image you want or you can choose from one of our stock images. That’s right! Rather than have your customers see the Square logo when they checkout, they can see your business logo or you can show some team spirit with a snap! that has the LA Lakers printed on it or your favorite sports team.
What stock images are available for my snap!
Besides your own custom image/business logo, you can choose an image from one of the following categories:
- Food & Drinks
- Real estate
- Sports (NFL, NBA, MLB)
How is snap! manufactured?
snap! is produced using plastic injection molding. The same process that is used to make everything from water bottles to computer cases.
How is the image printed on snap!
All printing is done via high-quality screenprinting. We can print up to 4 colors on your snap!
How will you get my image on snap!
After funding is closed, we will send you an email requesting your company logo in digital format. We will need your artwork to be submitted in a vector format. Our preferred vector formats are *.pdf, *.eps, and *.ai. All files must be at least 300 dpi or the image will not print with sharp lines. It is also preferable for you to leave the background transparent.
When we email you for your artwork, we will also email you the artwork specifications which will include the printable dimensions.
Is snap! patented?
Yes...almost. We currently hold a provisional patent on snap! that is filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This means that we can advertise the product as “patent pending” and still be afforded the protection of a patent while we complete the formal patent application (it's quite long and full of dense prose).
Does snap! have a website?
Yes, it is www.my-snap.com. As of right now, you will find the same content on our website as you will on Kickstarter. More content to come.
Risks and challenges
We have already created the prototypes, tested them, and made steel molds that are used for the plastic injection molds. Furthermore, we have secured an injection molding facility which produces millions of units per year of other items and their quality control has been tested by our engineering team.
The main obstacle that we foresee is just in securing production schedule time with the injection molder. We have given ourselves until June 2013 to deliver the products, which, according to our production manager, is more than enough time to schedule and produce snap! The only obstacle is if there is another project from another customer that stalls and causes us to experience production delays. We will be very transparent, though, when it comes to communicating with Kickstarters about the delivery of their product.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
