Hello there! Thanks for stopping by Cove's Kickstarter!
This is our second go at this, the first time we received so much support, but our goal was a little out of reach. We have re-looked at our business plan and worked out a way where we can get started with less than our original goal. We will be doing smaller runs in production to begin so that we can get the ball rolling. We are still so excited though! We raised almost $12,000 last time (thank you again!). We hope to pass our $8,000 goal this time around and get close to what we raised last time. Again, thank you all so much for your support! We truly couldn't do this without all of you!! Please read on to learn more about Cove and me, the designer/dreamer, Taylor! Much love!
Hi, I am Taylor Morgan! In a way, I feel like I have lived two separate lives. In my first life, I was consumed by dance. My mother owned a dance studio and I spent my whole childhood there. It was all we did and I loved it. In my second life, i have pursued my passion for fashion design. I am constantly designing and creating things I love.
What Makes Cove Unique?
The Dancer/Designer Combo: Knowing how dancers move and understanding how clothes are constructed gives us a HUGE advantage. I am able to engineer dancewear that is both comfortable and functional for the dancer.
Unique Sense of Style: The designer in me LOVES to make beautiful things. It doesn't matter what it might be, if I am designing it, it will embody a clean classic style. With Cove's dancewear you, your students, or kids will be ready to train in style!
Don't Forget About the Men!: The men sometimes get overlooked in the dance world when it comes to dance clothes. We plan to change that and focus on their needs and desires as well. Men like to be fashionable too!
What We Plan to Do with Your Help?
Production: The bulk of the funds will go towards Cove's production. At Cove we don't like to cut corner's and we vow to use quality materials and execute quality construction; something that can be overlooked.
Creative/Online Development: Our website will be designed and built out for everyone to have access to Cove's stylish dancewear.
Travel: In addition to our online marketplace, we plan to travel on weekends to make appearances at dance conventions to sell our products to dancers in person, and to get the word out about Cove.
$10 or more: One of the first things we wanted to do was incorporate our backers into the design process. We truly appreciate your help and think it would be great to have your input as we finalize our first collection. You will be able to log into our website (we will send you a special link at the end of the campaign) and vote on your favorite designs, pre-production. We hope you will become apart of the creative process.
$50 or more: You will receive an 11x17 print of Cove designs, hand illustrated by me! Printed on quality card stock paper, this will serve as a fun piece in your home and be a constant reminder of the big role you played in helping Cove get started!
Risks and challenges
As a fashion designer in the industry, I am very familiar with the risks and challenges that come with running and producing a clothing brand. But I am also familiar with how to help make sticky situations better!
The biggest challenge will always be production. It is the part of the process where you truly have to depend on another party to help produce your clothes the correct way and in a timely manner. To help minimize potential for error, I plan to personally make each and every pattern so that it fits the way I designed it. Also, having my product produced here in NYC where I live, will help because I can communicate directly with production and oversee the work from start to finish.
There will always be curve balls thrown at you when running your own business, but at the end of the day we will always find a way to make everything come together!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
