We are beyond happy to report that through the support of an incredible group of backers, we have achieved our goal with 6 days to spare! Thank you is an understatement.
We feel like we ought to put this remaining project time to use so for the last days, all of the additional funding that we receive will go towards the purchase of two Wolf dress forms! Help us get these girls in the shop!
Thank you all again for this incredible wave of support! The encouragement and inspiration we have gained through this process is truly priceless!
Hello & welcome to theBANQUET Kickstarter project page!
Our project is co-designing a new house line of women's clothing, jewelry, and accessories to be produced in NYC and sold at our Brooklyn boutique, theBANQUET, and beyond.
Our mission has always been to create our own approach to working in Fashion, both as independent designers and business owners.Together with an ever expanding network of designers, photographers, proprietors, and patrons, we have been carving our own niche in the market. We created PLUME jewelry and Miranda Bennett Design, respectively, in 2005/2006. Though our lines have always been independent entities, we have shared resources, advice, and created as many opportunities for collaboration as possible in the years since.
In January 2009, in the heart of the recession, we opened our own boutique, where we have sold our lines side by side, as well as the work of guest artists and artisans from New York and beyond. It has been an incredible opportunity and a dream come true. It has also been an exercise in utilizing every resource possible to feed our business and our lines. If the most recent breakdown of the economy has taught us anything, it is that we do not want to rely on credit or incur debt as we continue to grow our business. This has made our project all the more challenging, and is a large part of why we are here now, asking for your help and support.
The next chapter of our dream is to marry our aesthetics in a line of clothing, jewelry, and accessories that we will design together, produce in New York City, and market through our shop, theBANQUET.

Miranda Bennett (designer of a signature women's clothing line) & Pamela Johnston of PLUME, a jewelry line. We met in NYC while attending Parsons School of Design around 2002. We immediately clicked - aesthetically, socially, and in a hard-to-visualize-at-that-point-but-never-the-less-apparent approach to how we wished to work in the Fashion Industry. Parson was grooming us to work for the BIG design houses on 7th avenue, but we both knew that we wanted a more personal and independent approach to designing and more specifically to designing our own lines. We realized we would have to create our own model.
Raising funds for our first ever collaborative line, to be called theBANQUET (after our Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Boutique).
The design, manufacture and marketing of our collection of women's clothing, jewelry, and accessories (all to be produced in NYC).
The line will officially be available for Spring/Summer 2012 purchase in early April at theBANQUET. Once our wholesale orders are placed in early Fall 2011 we will know where our line will be carried out of house.
Unfortunately, we will not receive any of the funding if we do not meet our $5,500 goal.
Our broad inspiration is to create an all year collection of timeless, American inspired staple pieces in luxury materials, with each collection revolving around meditations on single themes.
FABRIC: Natural fibers sourced locally. JEWELRY: fine metals, natural fibers and wood.
