Sci-fi: In a world where time flows backwards, an old man goes to the morgue to meet his wife for the first time, as she comes to life.

THE STORY

The year’s 2012, but we live in a world where time flows backwards. Clocks go from 12 to 11 and so on. Calendars run from December back to November and so forth.

We open at a graveyard, where an official looks at his papers and gives the order to exhume a grave.

In an apartment, an old man (Graydon) wakes up as the alarm clock switches from 11:00pm to 10:59 pm, and begins to get ready for the day. He calls his son (Rance), who’s at the airport with his family. Among them is Rance’s daughter, Simone, who is 7 years old, and thus only has a few years left to live.

They are all gathering at the hospital to go meet Graydon’s deceased wife. Her unearthed corpse waits in a morge to be brought back to life - much to the joy of the family. All the while, Simone contemplates her upcoming mortality.

FILMMAKER'S STATEMENT

With EMIT, we as filmmakers seek to bring a wholly unique way of looking at our world by simply changing one key variable of the physical realm – TIME.

Our premise is simple – What if Time were to flow backwards? What if you were resuscitated from a grave, and had a predetermined life?

Since most social commentary and larger philosophical concerns are more easily addressed through the genre of Science Fiction, we hope to utilize the conventions of sci-fi to make a short film that shows how life would be if everything was predestined and if there were no such thing as ‘choice’.

Our hope is that this film would make people appreciate life more, and urge them to feel contented with what they have, or perhaps even encourage them to make positive changes. Our film will hopefully speak to people about love, humanity and destiny.

RECOGNITION

The script for EMIT has been met with great enthusiasm from industry professionals and potential audiences.

It recently won the Grand Prize for Shorts at the Table Read My Screenplay contest, beating out over 1200 scripts, and a reading of it was performed at Sundance 2012

MARKETING AND DISTRIBUTION

-- Our primary goal for this film is for it to be used as a marketing tool to get the filmmakers access and recognition at all the top movie studios and production companies.

Given the director’s excellent representation at Circle of Confusion, his contacts in Hollywood, and his extensive personal relationships with top film executives, producers and directors, this film will get seen by the who’s-who of Hollywood, and open several doors for everyone involved.

-- We expect EMIT to be shown at major film festivals across the world – Sundance, Cannes, Telluride, Tribeca, LA Film Festival etc.

-- We also endeavor to utilize the online avenues and arenas to get the film across as many platforms as possible. Because of its short duration, we feel it would be perfect material for today’s booming New Media market– YOUTUBE and HULU.
