To 2018 and beyond!

Posted by No Matter Studios (Creator)

Since our last update, we've been putting in a ton of work. Refining combat, character response, and further improvements to our camera tech to name a few. We also realize that we won't be hitting our initial 2017 release window and will be shifting our Closed Alpha and future releases into 2018. We have worked tirelessly to get where we are now and the delay means we'll have more time to continue to refine what we have and make Praey for the Gods the best it can be. In the latest Newsletter, we also share new music tracks, first looks at the champion enemy, and much more!

A game like this deserves to take all the time it needs. We'll be here, patiently waiting, building up hype with each passing update and newsletter.

I'll wait untill it's ready with ease, take your time cooking! /Jakop

Much praise and awesomeness in the news letter and take all the time you need to make this game awesome! Here comes the but though.
But about the news letter, I think the bit about the Champion enemy, showing it to us feels spoiler-ish. It would have been way cooler to see it first in game and and take it all in at the moment. Now though, when I have my first encounter with one (I'm sure it'll still be awesome) I'll be thinking about how I knew it was coming. Maybe just put stuff like that in the bottom with a little warning. Hope I'm not sounding like a twit for bringing this up, I just want playing this game, especially the first time through, to be as memorable as possible. Thanks again for all your effort in making this game!

also that gif of the wall jump, that height would definitely injure someone unless they rolled with it. Sorry, little bit of a parkour nerd.

You're showing your work. I'm perfectly at peace with delays as long as the work is clearly progressing. Keep it up!

This newsletter really looks great. I'm not disappointed, that the Pre-Alpha will be refined until it's ready. That is the right thing to do. And I would miss the time to play it anyway. There did so much and good got released the past two month. (Outcast Second Contact, yeah) PFTG is/will be to good for the pile of shame.

    13. Vince Vazquez

Woo. I know you guys show off your stuff on Social Media quite a bit, so I'm totally not disappointed at all. Keep on plugging away - this is shaping up to be something special :)

Makes sense I would rather you release a game you feel proud of that captures your vision

Thanks for the kind words and understanding. The recent improvements especially shifting to Cinemachine/Timeline in Unity 2017 have greatly improved our schedule for cutscenes (ie: boss reveals, narrative moments, etc) So the upfront dev time to get it in has already paid itself back. Also, having those great tools also means we can really push the quality up too! There's a ton of other improvements that we spent time on upfront that are now really paying themselves back. Combat, and climbing are still getting improved too! The best part is every boss we do we're finding new ways to make them better, and speed up on development time. Not to mention the additional stuff we didn't even think possible ie: Champions, Towers, etc.

I was fully open to the possibility that the project could be delayed when I backed it. I know full well how time consuming it is to make a polished, high quality game, which I'm sure what you as professionals strive to achieve.

Take all the time you feel you need.

It must have been very stressful to realize you won't make this deadline, but I would rather see a finished game than a incompete mess. I look forward to playing the game next year. Happy holidays!

Thanks for the update and keep up the good work!

Game looks really great so far. Take your time. I am confident you’re doing the best you can and putting your heart and soul into this!

While it's sad to learn I'll be waiting about half a year to a year until I get to play it, I'm confident you'll spend that time improving the game and making the wait well worth it. To echo the sentiment of others, I would much rather wait longer and get a better game.

Keep up the good work! The wait is worth it, if it makes the game better.

    28. Oz Locke on

Happy to have a better game later, looking good guys :)

    29. Jacob Briggs on

I think for something of this scale, some delays should and were expected. I hope you guys are focusing on the PC game, the ports can follow later. Good luck!

And down the slippery slope we go. I'm pushing for you to be able to make this new deadline, hope you don't end up like about half of my other supported projects that slip, delay, stop updating, disappear.
