If you choose to use Kickstarter again, it will be a difficult decision for me to back it due to your decision.
When are the PDFs of the book coming out? Are we going to receive them by email or a download site.
Awesome! Thanks so much, I am very excited about the book!
Hi Jorge, Yeah, that will be available on Jan 1st as well. Thanks!
Will the downloadable PDF copy that goes with the book be available around the same time?
Hi Garrett, I'll be sending out a Kickstarter survey to collect all the addresses in December so you can provide me your new address then. Thanks!
Hi Chris! I've moved since I originally backed the project and provided my address.
Is there an email address I can use to provide you my updated shipping address for the Hardcover copy of the book? ($50 rewards level)
Hi Scott, Yeah I'm not sure exactly what it will be, but I'm looking to do something with them when the book is complete.
I've really enjoyed the videos. Are you planning to ditch them together into a longer documentary?
Check out The Atheist Community of Austin. They do a number of activities and events here on a regular basis and are full of wonderful people. www.atheist-community.org
"It's great to be back in Austin which has such an active and vibrant atheist community"...
I'm new to Austin. Any group(s) you recommend with whom I can get plugged-in?
Does anyone know how I was signed up for this, or how they got my credit card number to charge me $1. I have never, ever heard of this group or who they are, or what they do. But, I definitely want to figure out who signed me up for this and cancel it.
This is officially awesome now! Time to really get your butt in gear Chris! Can't wait for my copy =D
This is a thrilling endeavor - to see atheism presented as it is - a profound, wondrous and liberating way to live. A big weight on your shoulders now Chris but I'm sure you'll rise to the occasion. Can't wait for the book.
Great to see this project is happening. Can't wait to get my copy!
I love the continued pledges! With less than an hour left, I think we can say the goal is officially met. Congrats, Chris. Now it's all on you.
Wow. A lot can happen in a day, I guess. Congrats and looking forward to the book!
Nice to see the pledges came back up - and in a big way too!
Hey, perhaps now that you've crossed the finish line, so to speak, how about an updated list of all the folks who've agreed to appear in the book so far (including your top-tier donors)?
Lisa has it right - congratulations, now get busy!
Can't wait to get my copy.
Yeah, I noticed that, Martin. It's very uncool! I hope we don't dip below the goal amount!
Thanks everyone for the great comments and support!!!
Heyyy, wait a minute. Now that Chris has met his goal, some jerks are backing out. Way uncool! You made a pledge, follow it through!
Congratulations! I'm so excited that this book is happening and that I'll be getting a copy!
Congratulations, Chris! Now get busy!
Looks like you've got this one in the bag, Chris! Whew!
Thanks for your pledge James. We've now reached the $10,000 maximum match amount, so new pledges or increases wouldn't be matched at this point.
If I change my pledge amount, will the difference be matched or the total?
Thanks for the suggestion, Bryan. Unfortunately, Kickstarter doesn't allow any of the reward levels to include any kind of drawing or entry into a contest. There is a promotion on the Facebook page where you can share the photo and that enters you in a chance to be a subject. You can check it out at: https://www.facebook.com/theatheistbook
Thanks Luke! Yeah, I really think this can happen!
Thanks for getting Sam to tweet, Jon! That's great! I re-tweeted it as well. I'd love to have him in the book as well. I'm still waiting to hear back from him concerning that.
How about... everyone who has donated at the $100 level gets to be in a drawing for a couple spots at being featured in the book!? That could drum up a few more pledges!
Got a RT from Sam Harris. He's got 65K followers on twitter. He'd be great for the book.
Hellz yeah. <20k in 67 hours. Doable.
I think it's time to get in contact with Todd Stiefel of the Stiefel Freethought Foundation. Todd should definitely be showcased in the book, and there might be some funding possibility from him, and maybe another matching challenge.
I saw that Jon. Thanks for doing that! I really appreciate it!
I've been trying to get some retweets on twitter about this project. So far I've gotten Rebecca Watson who has over 20K followers to RT. Hope that give you a boost.
Hi Jon. Yeah, I've been trying to get Ricky, but so far have been unable to get him. Maybe he'll join soon.
It may be too late, but you should try for Ricky Gervais. He's a very outspoken atheist.
Did some quick math. Over 2500 people liked this page. If the 1991 people who liked the page but presumably aren't backers gave an average of $18.79 each, we'd hit the goal. Been watching the numbers go up all week. It's not completely out of the realm of possibility. :)
Thanks for the comments Daniel, Luke, and Gary.
Yeah, I agree, things are getting down to the wire. I'm going to send out a project update today. We're also doing another post on Reddit, and hopefully get more people hearing about this project that way. In addition, we have three Facebook ads running. I contacted Dan at FFRF a little while ago, so we'll see if they can help. I'm also trying to get some more last minute blog/Twitter/Facebook plugs as well.
If anyone has any contacts or ideas for ways to get the word out, please feel free to email me: firstname.lastname@example.org
Late joiner, but I wanted to get signed on to show support. This is an interesting project, and it hits a demographic not usually considered.
Good luck to you.
I'm a bit worried, seeing how fast your / our deadline is approaching. Have you considered contacting the FFRF? Maybe they can feature the project on their homepage?
Crossing my fingers! Daniel
Hi John! I asked Eugenie back when I started the project, and she politely declined for the same reasons as NdGT; wanting to focus on science education.
