Outerlands Parklet Update

Greetings Friends!

We hope this email finds you all well and enjoying an incredible spring!

This is a long overdue note to let you know that after much experimenting we found a successful carving method and have inscribed the names into the Parklet! They are a special reminder to us of the many folks whose support allowed this project to happen.

Over the past months we have been so excited to see families, children, residents, and passers-by enjoying a chat or a picnic on the Parklet, stopping for a moment to rest in the sun, meeting friends for coffee before heading to the beach . . . it has truly enlivened the block and added a warm feeling of community and neighborhood activity. It's a gift to see both new and familiar faces stopping by there, adding the element of gathering that brings the space to life.

A few quick notes:

If you opted to pick up your t-shirt reward and haven't yet, please let us know when you'll be stopping by, or if you'd prefer us to mail it. If you choose the latter, please confirm your mailing address and we'll send your t-shirt along!

If your reward was a lunch or dinner at Outerlands that you have not yet redeemed, please contact us to set up your visit- we're excited to see you!

If you have any questions about the Parklet or your reward, or if for some reason you did not receive your reward, please contact us anytime via Kickstarter, or by emailing

We hope to see you soon!

Outerlands Parklet Update

Greetings All!

We hope this email finds you well and enjoying the first glimmers of fall. We wanted to share some updates with you: Over the last few weeks, we completed the final structural details and most of the plantings, and we have been enjoying watching the community interact with the first stage of the open Parklet! Here are some lovely images taken by friend and neighbor Dennis Budd.

From here, we will continue to refine the plantings around the Parklet, as well as integrate some moveable block-style stools for added seating options. We recently power-washed the sidewalk and concrete and are getting ready to paint the exterior of Outerlands, so the corner is getting a nice sprucing up!

In other news, we are excited to share the rewards we have prepared for you, which were mailed earlier this week! We want to give special thanks to Dennis Budd for donating time & skills to create the architectural drawings of the Parklet (a detail of which is shown on the card) and to architect and artist Katherine Fontaine for donating the beautiful drawing featured on the T-Shirt. If you have any questions about your reward, or if for some reason you do not receive your package by the end of next week, please feel free to email us. If you chose the option to pick up your reward in person, please feel free to pop in to the restaurant anytime we are open.

We hope you will all have a chance to stop by and check out the space soon; we look forward to seeing you!

Parklet Project Successfully Funded!

We not only met but exceeded our funding goal!  We are so grateful for the family, friends, and neighbors near and far who showed support throughout this campaign: your donations, tweets, posts, and positive encouragement made it happen! We are touched by your belief in this project, and it feels special to move forward having achieved this together.

Now it's time to celebrate! Please help us coordinate your rewards by emailing your mailing address, phone number, and t-shirt size if applicable. If you chose the inscription reward and haven't done so already, please let us know how you'd like your name to appear on the Parklet. For example, we can write your first and last name, the names of yourself and a partner, or your family or business name. All rewards, including events, dinners, and lessons, will be mailed out or arranged after Sept. 15th (please allow a bit longer for t-shirt and poster mailings). Please let us know if you'd prefer to pick up your reward, and feel free to email us if you have any questions.

Some folks have asked whether it's still possible to donate for the inscription reward, and the answer is yes! Simply go to and set your donation to (you don't need to have a paypal account to use this service). You can also donate by check to Outerlands at 4001 Judah St, San Francisco, CA 94122, or in person by cash or check at the restaurant.

Again, we are truly thankful for your help and can't wait to enjoy the finished space with all of you!

Warmest regards,

Dave & Lana

Parklet Launch Update- 5 Days to Go!!

A huge thank you to our donors: with your support, we have made it to 75% of our funding goal! The warmth and encouragement we have received from family, from friends new and old, and from our Outer Sunset neighbors has brought new meaning to this project, and we feel so grateful to be a part of this community.

Now we are in the final stretch- only 5 days left before our campaign ends. If you are thinking of donating, there is no better moment to jump on board! You can also help promote the project by posting our page link to your Twitter or Facebook profile, or by sending an email to friends.
