About

As human beings, we have always enjoyed fictional worlds; big adventures, unknown lands, vicious creatures, villains, and heroes. We’re reading books, playing video games, watching films, going to theatres, listening to podcasts, playing tabletop role playing games and moreover writing in order to experience fictional worlds again and again.

We know that creating such experiences for readers and gamers can be difficult, sometimes we just feel an invisible wall in front of us.

As Dream Realm Storytellers, we are creating a solution! Presenting “Journey Guide” for you to smash that wall and continue writing your journeys, practicing your writing skills and designing a tabletop role playing game scenario for your new campaign.

For now, we are presenting Journey Guide: Horror

You can try the deck in many occasions relevant to storytelling, script writing, or games. We found out four different usage of the cards;

1. TABLETOP RPG SCENARIOS

You can create the lore and fiction of a whole adventure or campaign when playing a tabletop role playing game with your players. Details in the cards alone is enough for creating complex and breathtaking horror games.

Content of the cards are designed to suit nearly all settings and systems. Monsters and villains even have simple stats in terms of combat, sociality and intellect. You just need to use encounter templates suitable for them.

2. COMPLETING UNFINISHED PROJECTS

Journey Guide: Horror can help to complete the pile of the unfinished project of yours. The deck can inspire you to get on the road again towards your final destination in the project! Use the Journey Guide to spice your story up, provide a meaningful conclusion you longed for a long time, add interesting new characters, and create unexpected twists.

3. STORYTELLING

While gathering with your friends on a small vacation or camping trip, you can tell spooky stories near the campfire with your cards.

4. JOURNEY GUIDE CARD GAME!

You can challenge your friends, family and colleagues to a card game by you as players creating different stories with the same cards or by picking a complex variety of cards for a real challenge.

Each player picks 5 cards from the deck and tries to come up with a good, spooky story. Player with the most liked story wins. Moreover, you can challenge your friends with the same five cards.

Narration plays an important role in our daily lives, but it is not limited to it. Narration also attracts the attention of academicians. They analyze the narratives, define similarities, and create schemas.

In this project, we are using Joseph Campbell’s famous work, “Hero’s Journey”. Campbell was a mythologist that was looking for the similarities of cultural myths and religious stories. Campbell found out that all stories, fairy tales, movies, books, myths, and legends share similar structural elements.

Even if his main focus was myths, other scholars followed his path and reveal some certain elements in fiction writing. Many fictional works use these same elements, the same blueprint from history of literature’s first fairytales and myths from the New York Times Bestsellers to superhero movies.

And we think that these elements might be extremely useful for all types of creators.

Campbell found out 12 different stages in narration, however, we thought that using all of them might be strict for creative minds. Since we want to ignite the light for creators, we decided to establish more space for them and create three main acts and diversify these three.

Let the journey begin!

Here are what people from the media have said regarding Journey Guide: Horror! We thank them for their enthusiasm for our deck and campaign.

Interview with a Turkish Youtube channel

We have been working on the Journey Guide: Horror for three months, and now it is almost ready. However, funds we get from Kickstarter will be spent on editing, content narration, marketing, layout, all the beautiful artwork, as well as printing the decks.

We are currently a small firm with limited cash flows and investment budget. This makes us dependent to Kickstarter for funding the launch of our projects. Yet, more importantly, we know that backers love being part of the beautiful campaigns that emerge from Kickstarter.

We are both honored and grateful to give you the opportunity to be a part of our project. We love making friends in the vast, global community of tabletop role playing game enthusiasts and fiction writers. It makes us see how big the world is and beautiful people are, when we look from our small and humble country of Turkey.

Dream Realm Storytellers is the name behind the setting, we are a tabletop role playing game studio from Turkey who came together in 2015. Our most recent project is Svilland Campaign Setting for 5E, which was successfully funded on Kickstarter in a week. We are currently working on our Patreon page and several other projects including Journey Guide.

Before we were professionals, we were a club of tabletop role playing games, fantasy and science fiction enthusiasts. We previously have made a fiction horror podcast, many LARPs, mini-conventions, RPG-themed summer camps and more. Feel free to check out our website for details.

PRINTING BY PRINTNINJA

LOGISTICS AND SHIPMENT BY GAMERATI

We will deliver our decks in bulk to Gamerati warehouses in the United States, Europe, and Australia. Your decks will then be delivered from their warehouses to your door.

ESTIMATED DELIVERY

We will be working on reaching more people for our project, and will be heavily communicating with our backers within the campaign time. Once our Kickstarter campaign is done, we will turn back to production with full speed.

We are estimating our time of completion to be in 6 months (i.e. January 2020). When we are done, PrintNinja and Gamerati will begin shipping the decks to our backers. Please note that time of delivery to your front door may differ according to your address and proximity to the warehouses we use. Please provide shipping an additional time from our delivery estimate.

ESTIMATED SHIPPING COSTS

You can see the calculated individual shipping costs that are currently up-to-date here:

United States - $9

Europe - between $16 (e.g. Germany) and $22 (e.g. Greece)

Australia - between $15 and $18

Rest of the World - $35

The difference between US shipping and shipping in other regions are due to the VAT paid when the shipments are passing through customs. In the US, we do not pay VAT in our shipments because the printing company is located there.

Thank you!
Thank you!

Risks and challenges

Apart from a disaster or completely unexpected external major crisis, there is no way this project will be cancelled once it is funded. We take our calculations and projections seriously and create spreadsheets, procedures and plans for any financial situation a Kickstarter campaign can have.

We do not have shipping cost risk as we will obtain our shipping budget towards the end of the project. A shift in printing cost will be financially managed by allocating a buffer budget driven from calculations of historical shifts in company prices.

Additionally, our previous Kickstarter campaign is done and good to go on sale. We are able to manage any kind of small budget issues this project would bring, with the cash flows we have from our other operations.

Our designers, content creators and artists are experienced in working together for many years as a club of hobby enthusiasts, and presently as a team of professionals as we finished our first Kickstarter campaign: Svilland Campaign Setting. We all are working fast and most of the content is finished. This means that it is an unlikely chance that we will experience shortages or problems with our project team.
