In this feature length documentary, director Ray Zate brings you the
story of two Nashville artists as they embark on their first
collaborative album. A story that is more than music, as told by them
and their close friends, in their own words, it is a story of adversity,
friendship, family, brotherhood, and chasing dreams. A journey that has
them on a path, Building The Highway 2 Mars.
Shortly after the first draft of film won at the International Black Film Festival - Nashville, one of the key persons from the film, and our dear friend, suddenly passed away. Since then we have come to realize that the story wasn't over but still continuing, as we all overcame the sudden loss and continued to chase the dream. A dream that he supported and believed in greatly. It is in his honor that we are asking for your help to raise funds to get this story completed, told, in film festivals and distributed. We are asking for $55,500 to offset the cost of production, festival entry fees, advertisement at the festival, travel cost, the 10% fees from Kickstarter and Amazon and the grassroots effort to get this film out there.
A shorter version of the film of the film had been screened at the International Black Film Festival of Nashville and garnered the "Best Audience Film" award.
"I was floored by the quality and cinematography Ray brought to the
project. We, as online travelers, get flooded with shoddy material
passed off as good work. Not here. Ray’s
equipment, skill set and overall vision put his work miles ahead of
anything I’ve seen in all my time doing this. Quote me on that."

But even with the reviews and awards, our success isn't defined by riches and status, it is defined by happiness, overcoming defeat, never giving up no matter how tough the road may get, and of course our love for the arts! It is in the honor of our dear friend that passed that we overcome that hurdle and share this inspirational story in his honor and continue to chase our dreams. We are almost there, we just need your help to push us over.
Thank you all for your consideration!
