About this project
When a woman takes a job as an executive assistant, she discovers the skyscraper she works in is haunted by victims of the corporation's business practices. Soon, she is unable to ignore the injustices embodied by the disembodied. While caring for her ailing mother, navigating the new job, and managing a love-interest with a coworker, she embarks on a mission to reveal the truth and set things right.
Human Resources gives classic haunted-house story archetypes a modern twist to explore social issues in a way that is entertaining and accessible.
This ultra-low budget feature will make a full run of the festival circuit. We've assembled a skilled cast and crew who are as much activists as they are artists -- and we're excited to tackle this timely take-down of big business. We have a killer screenplay (read the first 10 pages). We have planned, prepped special effects, and cast the leads. We already have a lot of stuff required -- lighting, sound, tripod/jib, Canon 550D for secondary camera, some free locations, cast and crew working on deferred salary. Funds raised will directly cover remaining production necessities for the 15-day shoot:
- Food ($2100 for 10-person cast/crew)
- Camera rental ($1500 for Canon 5D MkII + 3 lenses)
- Per diem for lead actors ($600, x2)
- Travel expenses ($300)
- Location use-fees ($1200)
- Special effects and makeup ($250)
- Contingency ($1000)
With years of guerilla filmmaking experience, we're great at stretching every dollar -- but the more money we raise the better the film will be. So, join us in producing a fiercely satirical horror-thriller that speaks more truth to power than you'll get from studio films!
We have cast the two leads, and will post info about the actors very soon. There are some supporting roles that need filled, so we will be holding auditions in Philadelphia and New York in early January.
Pending successful fund-raising, we will begin shooting in early February and post-production in late February. We hope to have a rough cut by April, and a cast/crew/friends/family screening by May. We will refine the cut and begin festival submissions in the summer (before early-submission deadlines for Sundance, Slamdance, SXSW, and others). The actual release may change based on festival acceptance, but the plan is to premiere in September or early October. Just in time for election season!
