Why did we create Listnr?
All living things recognize their environment by sound, and communicate with it.
We wanted to build something using sound to enrich and delight our lives.
Listnr is a completely new type of communication device allowing you to interact with your environment by sound.
- You can get a notification when Listnr hears specific sounds.
- Using the API, you can control and update internet-enabled devices by setting sounds as triggers.

What is it for?
Sound controller
Listnr lets you connect a smart light-bulb (Philips HUE) and turn the light on/off by snapping your fingers.

Baby Notification
Listnr has an advanced audio processor, and it understands emotions from sounds. For example, Listnr can identify the different sounds coming from a baby - when the baby cries, laughs, screams, or burbles.

With additional development, Listnr will be able to understand peoples' feelings by hearing their voices, and will signal what it hears from its color - allowing a visual indicator of the emotional tenor of the voices in the room.
3 Features

LED
Listnr can be lit up brightly with few colors.

Notification
With the baby app, you can get notifications directly to your smartphone.

How To Use
Listnr is easy to set up and ready to use.

1. Install the Listnr App to your smartphone
2. Plug in
3. Set up Wi-Fi
For Developers:
Listnr is a hackable (API ready) project,
There are 2 types of development methods:
Method A.
Listnr can send recorded sounds, in realtime, to your own web service for processing, analysis, or using as triggers for other events.
Method B.
Use Listnr's native cloud software for voice/sound recognition to trigger other external events.

Who are we?
The Listnr Project started in 2014 with 2 hardware technology companies. Our team has worked in various industries to make Listnr develop one of the revolutionary listening project.
Koichi Nakayama, CEO, has worked at Cerevo in product development.
Satoshi Yanagisawa, product designer, has spent his design career focused on design activities, always with a vision of improving sustainability.
Hikaru Kinouchi, director of international community, has worked in Boston as a science researcher at Harvard Medical School and Tufts School of Medicine for audio and visual neural regeneration research.
From Founder

Rie Ehara(@rie_re) - Co-Founder, communication designer
I live in Tokyo and have traveled internationally to build products focused on aesthetics and communication.
My passion is connecting people with common interests, working on the frontier of technology. I'm looking forward to seeing what the world can do with Listnr.
Partnership
Listnr is developed in collaboration with the following 2 companies in Japan.

Cerevo is a hardware startup company founded by Takuma and based in Tokyo since 2007. We are collaborating with Cerevo for making the Listnr hardware.

Panasonic helped us develop the sound recognition engine, including technology to distinguish sounds like babies' emotions.

Risks and challenges
Product shipping-
There is a possibility of delay, but we will keep in touch monthly and reply to your comments as frequently as possible.
Sound Recognition-
We cannot guarantee the precision of our native sound recognition software, but we will do our best to make Listnr useful for your everyday usage.
With our beta version internally, our data suggests over 75% of a baby's sounds are recognized and categorized correctly. We expect this to be above 90% before shipping.
Other sounds, like finger snapping, or stepping, and clapping sound will be recognized by the time of release.
