Cube and Me is a unique pet simulator with a mixture of RPG, RTS, and "roguelite" elements. You play as Lyle Dyson, an ordinary 18-year-old man who barely scrapes by working as a professional envelope folder. That is, until by chance he encounters the mysterious alien life forms known simply as "Cubes."
As Lyle, you will be tasked with raising your new friends the Cubes, maintaining your job, and investigating the mysteries surrounding the appearance of the Cubes. Gameplay primarily consists of a combination of raising your Cubes and visiting procedurally generated dungeons spread around the world. These dungeons are filled with treasures and surprises, but penetrating their depths means risking the lives of your precious Cubes! It's your mission to lead the cubes to prosperity with strategic cunning and careful planning... or exploit them for your own gain!
Cube and Me is divided into three gameplay sections.
At home, you support your pet Cubes as they interact, grow, and evolve. How you raise your pets will affect their evolution. Wash, feed, praise, and play with your pets to better their mood and increase their power.
As the Cubes evolve, so does your home; You can purchase furniture and decorations to improve everyone's quality of life!
It's in the dungeons that your cubes will be put to the test. The dungeon is procedurally generated, giving a unique experience every time.
In the dungeon, you will find a variety of items and treasures. The materials you collect can be transformed into equipment for your pets.
While fighting through these dungeons you will encounter many surprises, including treasures, traps, gambling rooms, and NPC’s.
Throughout the game you will fight tons of dangerous enemies with up to four Cubes in your team: two main Cubes paired with two assist Cubes. Each type of Cube will have its own set of three attacks: basic, hyper, and assist.
Your job during combat is to lead your cubes to victory! This is accomplished by manually maneuvering them to avoid damage, activating their hyper modes, and giving them the items they need in a pinch.
Holding cubes during combat will place them in “Hyper Mode”, altering their attacks. Some of them may be more challenging to use at first, though overall their attacks will be a lot stronger.
It is up to you, to figure out the best possible combination and strategy that works with your playstyle.
The year is 201X. You play the role of Lyle Dyson, a frustrated 18 year old who supports himself with the only job he can get: work-from-home envelope folder. He lives his days dreading the judging eyes of others as he secludes himself in his house and sinks deeper into depression...
...until a meteor suddenly crashes right outside his window! Lyle, along with his neighbor Sarah, investigate the impact site and discover strange cube-shaped aliens, injured in the crash. This serendipitous meeting is suddenly interrupted by the arrival of a swarm of robots bent on the destruction of the defenseless cubes. A terrified Lyle stands frozen as Sarah valiantly grabs one of the cubes in a desperate attempt to protect it. The cube, awakening from her touch, begins to use incredible powers to fight back against the robots! The sight of Sarah's struggle awakens a hidden ferocity in Lyle, who joins the battle over the fate of the cubes.
After a narrow victory, Lyle decides to adopt a pair of the cubes. Where did these cubes come from? Why did they crash on the Earth? This is where your journey begins.
A reclusive 18-year-old who lives paycheck to paycheck. He folds envelopes at home to barely make his living. Due to the feelings of inadequacy and failure that constantly loom over him, he avoids interacting with other people.
Lyle's new next door neighbor. In stark contrast to Lyle she is a young genius, already holding an engineering degree at the young age of 18. She meets Lyle as well as the Cubes for the first time at the crash site. Her natural curiosity causes her to become fascinated with the new life forms, and she decides to dedicate herself to their study.
A mysterious businessman who is willing to exchange a generous amount of money for the Cubes. His intentions are unknown...
A humble shopkeeper that runs a general store. Her constant salesman's smile conceals her true feelings. Strangely, she seems oblivious to the flower growing out of her head...
Cube and Me has already been in development for nearly a year now. Everything you see on this Kickstarter page and in the video trailer is already in the game and fully functional!
The basic formula and mechanics of the game are already completed. What remains is the still significant task of adding content and polish. We have designed a huge amount of interesting enemies and fun events that we are dying to put in, but we need the funding to have the time to be able to do so!
If you want to see the brief history of the game's development, check out the tumblr link here: http://yuijegnan.tumblr.com/ !
We chose kickstarter because there is simply no other way. I imagine if I went to a bank or a publisher and presented my idea of a "pet raising roguelike RPG featuring Cubes", they will probably think I'm joking.
With the funding, we will be able to work for 5 months to complete the game.
With your help, Cube and Me will be completed, and will be better than it was ever possible before. This project is about our effort and your care.
We are asking you to give us your hard earned money here, so we feel it is only fair that the backers know how exactly the money will be spent and how the development is going. As Kickstarter lives on, we have witnessed many games that either fail, or simply do not deliver. So we want to make it clear for you so there aren’t any concerns about the possible failure of the project or us simply running off with a huge ballroom party for ourselves. So lets’ start off with a budget break down of where your money will go.
Unlike other campaigns, we wanted to be very clear with our development process. Progress and updates to the game will be posted in our development log, and will be regularly updated to keep the backers in track of the development.
In addition, we will be posting one update on kickstarter every three months showing exactly where the money went. This way, we can all make this game together with your input and our effort.
The secret book of Cube and Me
All backers who pledge at least 12 dollars will receive the digital pdf of “The Secret Book of Cube and Me”. The book will feature the story of how the Cube and Me evolved from concept to completion, exclusive art by our art wizard Elk and detailed information about the games setting and characters. Neat!
The paper craft book of Cube and Me
This book will include some of the in game assets in paper craft form, letting you to experience the crazy paper folding life Lyle has firsthand! Make your own set of pet cubes and recreate by cutting and folding them into life! Have your own Cube and Me display at home!
Pledging 50 dollars or more will get you a exclusive alpha access. A new build will be sent to you once a week all throughout development! You might see some broken things here and there, though through consistent updates you will have a rare opportunity to experience the full game development process. Also comes with an access to a backer only forum to give supporters a direct line to give the developers with feedback and suggestions.
Design your own Cube
Alright, hold onto something tight, because with this tier you’ll be able to design and hold the Cube of your dreams! You will design its appearance as well as the three different attack patterns used in the game. Don’t worry, just leave the balancing to us! Then you will be sent a physical plushie of your new cube! (omg).

Risks and challenges
We respect that you are giving money to us. So instead of telling you there is no risk and there is no challenges, I would like to go over the possible risks although it is very unlikely for it to happen.
Q: What happens if you run out of the kickstarter budget?
A: We have a solid plan with the budget so this is very unlikely to happen, but if it does the game will still come out given that it's funded, it will just take a little bit longer as we will have to get some jobs to survive.
We thank you very much from the bottom of our heart for your support. Thank you for reading!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
