Keep food on our table! Successfully raising $2500 will cover food costs for FEAST dinners in 2010. Keep funds going directly to our grantees. We source our produce through area farms, so your donation supports both local artists and local food producers.
What is FEAST?
FEAST is Funding Emerging Art with Sustainable Tactics. In the wake of a global economic collapse, we wanted to share an optimistic voice. We hoped to show that sustainable practices and creative energy are the most important tools we have in this historic moment.
FEAST is a recurring, large-scale, public dinner in Brooklyn, NY. 250+ participants get a locally-sourced supper and a ballot to vote on one of several artist project proposals. The artist with the most votes receives funds collected at the door. The artist returns to the next FEAST to shows the progress of the project.
FEAST is a simple idea, but has already created big impact. In 2009, FEAST funded 14 projects, granted over $8500, and served thousands of audience members. FEAST has created an expansion pilot program in Minneapolis, MN. FEAST has been featured in the NY Times, was listed by TimeOut NY as one of NYC's Best New Art Venues, and has repeatedly appeared on WNYC.
In 2010, FEAST will foster initiatives in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and other cities across the country. FEAST is connecting with sister-organizations in Chicago, Portland OR, and Baltimore. All this while strengthening our roots in NYC.
FEAST needs your help today.
FEAST is operated by volunteers and funded by small, individual contributions. You know. Like from you.
